Windows 10: (2004 Update) Screen freezes on sign-in window after waking up from sleep

I did the 2004 update on 30th May. It arrived officially, there wasn't anything manual there. Since then, my PC randomly gets slow and unresponsive. The most annoying and prevalent problem is that after I open the flap to wake my laptop, the screen just stays the same forever!! the sign-in option does not show up and I have to restart. This doesn't happen ALL the time but like 70% of the time mostly when I use it again after it has been on sleep for a while. Anybody got any clue why this is happening?

PC: DELL Inspiron 5567, 8GB RAM, HDD(not SSD), Intel Core i5 7200U (I know the PC is not high end but it was working almost flawlessly before the update)

Windows 10 Anniversary Update freezes at lock screen when waking from sleep

Getting Firefox v48.0.2 was a separate task. It wasn't meant to correct the "freezing" after waking from Sleep mode.

Question: Does the "freezing" persist after waking from Hibernate mode? See

Logon screen keeps on appearing after waking up the computer from sleep - Windows 10

Hi,

This is actually the first thing we tried. The computer comes up with a message saying:

"Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. To change this go to setttings and search for Power and Sleep."

The dropdown box underneath is greyed out, and inactive.

Going to Power and Sleep leads to your first suggestion, which is a dead end.

Does it only happen when waking up the computer from sleep?

To check for possible causes of this issue, we suggest you to run Power Troubleshooter. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key.
• Type Troubleshooting.
• On the left side, click View all.
• Click Power.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the issue still persists, you may update the Chipset driver from the device manufacturer.
