Windows 10: 2017-09 Cumulative Update failed to install

My last successful update version was build 413. Each cumulative update since then has failed to install. Latest message was "2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4038788) - Error 0x8e5e0147". Any suggestions on how I can rectify?

Hi my laptop has Windows 10 home version 1703 OS build 15063.540.

The problem • 2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4038788) - Error 0x80070002.

Failed to install on 16/09/2017.



Q. Is this the correct update for the build or should be • 2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4034674). would this be the reason the Edge Browser will not launch.

Windows 10 Updates Version 1703 2017-09 updates rejecting after 2017-10 (KB4038788) successfilly installed

After KB4038788 successfully installed so now 2017-10 (OS Build 15063.674).

KB4040724 (2017-09) Cumulative update failed to install 13 times but now no longaer downloads

Now Feature Update to Windows 10 version 1709 keeps downloading then getting ready to install and then repeats.

Sometimes the Windows Update needs to be reset. It can get out-of-wack for a variety of reasons under different circumstances. Try the reset procedure found here on one of our tutorials. Post back, please, with your results. Thanks, TC.

I tried running the file but it failed. Various messages but some I captured are:
"Cannot reset 'Windows Update' (wuauserv) service failed to stop"
(I failed to capture some of the other messages - too fast for me)

A new screen and "System error 5 has occurred - Access denied"

Windows update is unchanged (obviously). Any other options perhaps?
