Windows 10: 255% Available Plugged In while battery Icon in tray shows empty and battery stopped...

This is a serious and urgent issue need your attention after windows 13 June 2020 update

I am facing the issue that laptop battery does not charge. The battery icon in the taskbar now says 255% available but shows the visual of the battery being empty, and clicking on the icon in the tray it says 100% Fully Charged or no battery present keeps changing


Ever since Windows Update installed new firmware on 13 June 2020 into my Asus laptop W10 1903 the systems does not work on battery at all The firmware Windows Update installed on 13 June 2020 killed charging and access to the battery which showed it was slowly draining while plugged in and on or off. The Firmware needs to be rolled back or working firmware needs to be supplied by Windows Update.

What does 255% Available Plugged In mean when I mouse over the tray icon? Why does it say 100% Available Plugged In when I click on the tray icon which shows an empty battery image? Why is the system no longer working on the battery which has only been used for 26 cycles and was like new?

How do I roll back the system firmware update to restore system access to the battery and proper reporting of battery state. Battery report now shows nothing and no history but I have copies of battery reports from before the update which show a perfectly good battery and brief usage history.


This issue needs immediate attention!

Battery icon shows 255% even when battery not installed

HP dv-6c63NR Laptop. Recently (not sure when it started), the battery icon in the System Tray show 255% charge when the battery is installed or removed. I've rebooted multiple times and just finished a reset. Nothing changes, still shows 255% charge.

Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this?

It was okay a week or two ago.

This laptop is in the Insider Fast stream and currently has 1903 18362.1. I could install a non-insider build on my 2nd HDD (I have a 500GB SSD boot and a 500GB HDD 2nd drive) as a test.

Yes sir, i am referring to the battery. My battery is not attached but the battery icon in the system tray shows 255% available(plugged in) that was after i uninstall the battery from the device manager and reboot it. But nothing changes.

So i will have to update the driver.

As 255% is FF (hex) - all 1's - suggests a certain kind of bug...

If you have a live boot disk, that should prove it's not hardware related.

You could also try a 3rd party battery monitoring program, but if that reads the same buggy info from the OS, might give garbage too.
