Windows 10: ::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683} No mapping between account names and security IDs...

A couple months ago I changed the name associated with my Microsoft account due to personal reasons and thus the name associated with my personal computer, a Surface Book. This worked to change the name when I log in however to my frustration, this didn't change the name in my Users folder nor the user name associated with a lot of the programs I use, including Zoom. This prompted me to today try and change my user name proper and not just the Microsoft Account name. I followed this guide published only a few months ago on how to do this: https://www.groovypost.com/howto/change-account-name-windows-10/ I followed Method 2 word for word as Method 1 didn't seem to be possible and changed the user name line in the User Accounts Advanced Control Panel from the original name to this new name. I apply and OK but immediately after this when I go to check my PC Settings won't open and when I try to run control panel it displays this message:

No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.


This computer is my personal laptop and this was the only account on the computer. Presumably it was the administrator account. Many of the tips online I've seen for solving a deleted user profile involve using a System Restore Point but I have zero idea if I even made one of those considering I can't check my PC Settings. I did find another post on this topic from someone here back from 2018 but the thread went nowhere as they didn't respond to the questions asked. This problem started this morning immediately after I made this change. I haven't shut down my computer or put it to sleep since. The only other change I made was to the name attached to my Microsoft Account back in either January or February. That went without a hitch. This is a Microsoft account as far as I know.
