Windows 10: 2nd connection not asking me for right user name

Discus and support 2nd connection not asking me for right user name in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; I have been using Microsoft Remote desktop to connect to a particular PC.   1. 2nd connection not asking me for right user name


    I have been using Microsoft Remote desktop to connect to a particular PC.


    I have the following connection defined:


    PC name: [first PC].[PC domain]

    User account: [account domain]\[first username]

    Gateway: [gateway domain]


    This has been working fine. Whenever I double-click to connect, it offers me the dialog:


    Enter Your User Account


    This user account will be used to connect to

    [first PC].[PC domain] remote PC and [gateway domain] gateway


    Username: [account domain]\[first username]

    Password: [enterable password field]


    I just added a second PC. I have the following connection defined:


    PC name: [second PC].[PC domain]

    User account: Ask when required

    Gateway: [gateway domain]


    I have also defined three user accounts for it:

    [account domain]\[first username]

    [account domain]\[second username]

    [account domain]\[alias for second username]


    When I try to make the connection, I get the following unexpected dialog:


    Enter Your User Account


    This user account will be used to connect to [gateway domain] gateway


    Username: [account domain]\[first username]

    Password: [enterable password field]


    Where I actually expect:


    Enter Your User Account


    This user account will be used to connect to

    [second PC].[PC domain] remote PC and [gateway domain] gateway


    Username: [dropdown menu with choice of users]

    Password: [enterable password field]


    Additionally, if I change the second PC's settings so the specs are:


    PC name: [second PC].[PC domain]

    User account: [account domain]\[second username]

    Gateway: [gateway domain]


    and I attempt to connect, I still get:


    Enter Your User Account


    This user account will be used to connect to [gateway domain] gateway


    Username: [account domain]\[first username]

    Password: [enterable password field]


    Where I actually expect:


    Enter Your User Account


    This user account will be used to connect to

    [second PC].[PC domain] remote PC and [gateway domain] gateway


    Username: [account domain]\[second username]

    Password: [enterable password field]


    Any idea how to fix this?

  2. It appears that I have a 2nd user account why?

    It's actually not a user account but if you go to the 'Users' folder, there are 2 folders listed, one for me (Bob), and a 2nd (a 5 character name). The 2nd folder contains many of my files. I did not create the 2nd user folder.

  3. How to change User name on Windows 10

    Hi Davit,

    I will certainly help you in changing the User name on Windows 10.

    I suggest you to follow the steps below to change the User name:

    • Press Windows logo + R keys to open the run command, type
      netplwiz
      and click on Ok.
    • On the Users tab, click on Properties to change the user name and then click on
      Apply.

    Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


    I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

    Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
    We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
    I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
    Step 1:
    Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

    1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
    2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
    3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.
    Step 2:
    I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
    3. Select add someone else on this PC.
    4. Enter a user name and hit next.
    5. Click on Finish.
    6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
    Step 3:
    It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
