Windows 10: 2nd Monitor not detected although it mirrors the 1st

I just purchased a new Dell Inspirion 7306 2n1 laptop and I have a UtechSmart USBType-C Hub Pro Product Model: UCN3270 docking station with two HP 27f monitors. When I plug the hub into the USB-C port on the laptop, windows recognizes the hub as only one monitor. Both Monitors are working, but they mirror each other and are in "extended" mode from the laptop screen.


I have tried new cables, restarting, plugging it in and out dozens of times, but it's not detecting the 2nd monitor. Here are some screenshots of what I'm seeing:


Screen 2 is the Hub and should be divided into two monitors. Screen 1 is the laptop screen. When I click "Detect", I get the message "Didn't detect another display." On the "Multiple Displays option, I have "Extend these displays" selected.




When I go into Advanced Display Settings, There is no display 3 even though both of my external monitors are working they're mirrors of each other, extending from screen 1.


My previous laptop, a Dell Latitude 5300 2n1 is able to use the same USB hub and the 2 external monitors are detected and displayed correctly. It's only with my new laptop that I'm having this issue unfortunately. Please help, thank you!

2nd Monitor not detected

I have same problem. Last night windows 10 did what was listed as the winter update. Since then my second monitor just mirrors the first monitor. Everything worked until the update. I have tried several things, booting with just the one monitor (ASUS)
and delecting the first (ACER) and then adding both monitors, the control panel just sees the acer monitor. When I ask to detect second monitor it says second monitor not detected. I tried several different resolutions, that didn't help either. The same
screen appears now on both monitors, but control panel senses only the acer monitor.

 

Windows 10 will not detect second monitor and just mirrors the display

Hi

My son has a gaming pc with a new NVidia video card and running Windows 10 I believe and we have just purchased an ultra wide gaming monitor for his birthday.

He wishes to keep his AOC existing monitor and have 2 monitors up and running and to extend the display and not mirror.

We have connected both via HDMI using I think the term is a HDMI splitter purchased from Amazon.

We have updated the Nvidia drivers as suggested and ensured all the cables are connected but when we go to Settings and additional display it does not detect the second monitor and the display is mirrored with no option to extend.

Searched on the web for half a day with no real suggestions. I use 2 monitors at work without issue so cannot explain to him why it will not detect the 2nd display.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

Windows 10 can't detect my second monitor

Thank you for confirming. We can do the following:

When the second monitor is not detected, we need to isolate if it's the monitor, the cable connecting them, or the port. We suggest that you remove your 1st monitor, then use the 2nd monitor as your 1st monitor. After that, connect the 1st monitor as the
2nd monitor.

Usually, this it's driver-related. Windows 10 won't be able to detect the 2nd monitor if the monitor driver is out of date or faulty. We recommend, rolling back to the previous installed graphics driver and monitor driver if it updated. Otherwise, update your
graphics and monitor drivers on the Device Manager. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Type Device Manager in the Cortana search bar and press Enter.
• When the Device Manager window appears, click the Display adapters and right-click the item below.
• Select Properties, then Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver and follow the on-screen instructions.
• Expand the Monitors, then right-click the second monitor and select Properties.
• Click the Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the issue persists, update the drivers. You can manually update the driver by visiting the websites of your graphics card and monitor manufacturers to get the fully compatible drivers for Windows 10. You can run the Find
and fix problems with devices and hardware to automatically check for driver updates. Additionally, we'd like to know the make and model of your graphics cards and monitor?
