32-bit App Address Space on 64-bit OS/GPU Size?

Hello all, I've been putting this post/question off for some years now. However the question has been raised again.

A 32-bit process on a 64-bit OS, is limited to 4-Gb Address Space. I would like to ask the follow questions.

A number of posts on the web state, 32-bit windows OS, the graphics memory, bios are included in the 4gb Address space = 2.75gb available.

I've done research about 32-bit OS and how v-ram was shadowed in VAS, 1-gb GPU = 2-gb video ram and 2-gb system ram. DirectX 9.0c and below.

However I am curious, under a 64 bit OS running such 32 bit games old or new. Does GPU size 2/4/8-gb cards affect the Address Space in windows 10? or is it split 2-gb system ram, 2-gb video ram ect. And does not affect what size GPU depending on gpu specs + Windows 10 64 bit OS?

I have done a lot of reading and built games in both Dx9 and Dx11 platforms, however using a 32-bit game engine.

And concerned for end game users, does having a lower GPU size add less demand on the system/32-bit game and can prevents crashes?

Or is it advised smaller/less demanding games, that sit under the 4gb Address Space usage, if the case that Gpu size does limit 32-bit app Address Space on 64-bit OS?

    Example,

    64bit OS+ 2gb Gpu, running a 32-bit Game made inDx9.0c or below = Address Space?

    64bit OS+ 2gb Gpu, running a 32-bit Game made inDx11 = Address Space?

    64bit OS+ 4gb Gpu, running a 32-bit Game made inDx11 = Address Space?

Thank you all very much for your time.

    :)

    32-bit or 64-bit OS?

Just search. There was plenty of discussion on that.
Some time ago there were issues with 64-bit adoption (availability of drivers, etc). But that's past.

    It's no-brainer now. Go 64-bit.

64-bit OS will run 32 bit applications same as 32-bit OS
64-bit OS will not boost CPU performance, but will allow all 4 GB of your memory to be used (32-bit would limit it to 3.x GB)
64-bit OS will allow DX10/11 games to run faster because of better handling on GPU memory access

    Cheers,

32 bit vs 64 bit: How it relates to video cards

    ... quiet, you.

32 bit app on 64 bit OS is still capped at 2GB, unless its large address aware in which case that raises to 4GB of address space.

remember that the amount of vid memory used (and thus in address space) varies, and its usually NOT the maximum your video card has (or you'd be stuttering all the time) it might be 200MB, it might be 500MB, it might be 800MB.

32-bit App Address Space on 64-bit OS/GPU Size?

Down side to 32 bit drivers on 64 bit hardware?

64 is better because it lets you run 32 and 64 bit apps, and large address aware apps can use 4GB of ram.

under a 32 bit OS, games can only use 2GB of the 4GB available.

that said, XP64 sucks arse. If you want 64 bit, stay with 7. If you want a lighter OS, go XP 32.
