Windows 10: 33% Ram Usage While Idle

    33% Ram Usage While Idle


    I've been monitoring my computer's activity lately and this just came to my attention. While my computer is idle, 33% of my computer's ram is in usage. I have 16gb of ram and I'm just curious if this is normal to have 5.2gb of ram being used while idle. If it is not normal, what can I do to lower the amount of ram used while idle? If it is normal, what is causing this ram usage?

    Idle ram usage at around 8GB!

    ive seen similair threads, and have tweaked the registry values in similair youtube videos.

    just from a normal startup I peak at around 60% used ram out 16 gb installed ( 10ish gb).

    most of the ram is being used by system prcesses mostly reading anywhere from.1-.2 % for each process. I am very confused what is causing this and would like to know if anyone else has seen an issue like this?

    after registry tweaks dont aolve, is my next step to reinstall windows? Is adding more ram viable instead? Thanks for taking the time everyone

    TLDR: machine idles at 8gb ram usage before and after registry tweaks, whats is my next step in diagnosing the cause?

    - Not a fix for your unknown RAM use (Greg's suggestions should help with that), and this only adds up to a bit under 1GB use but...

    A system is not at idle with around eight Chrome browser Windows and tabs open.

    Discord, and two active searches. Not to mention a system hogging 'Anti-malware' program.

    Desktop Window Manager is using more than usual as well.

    - It looks like you have a bit of DELL bloatware running too.

    - What is the RAM use straight after re-booting Windows ?

    33% Ram Usage While Idle

    RAM usage 50±% on idle.

    without Firefox its on 43% usage, which still looks alot for me considering it to be on idle.

    BitDefender was updating.

    I actually have 8gb of ram, not 4gb.
