You have just been updated to The Fall Creators Update, windows 10 version 1709, as it told you it was gong to do. Run Winver to confirm, the latest version is 1709, os build 16299.214.

No, you didn't miss it, in fact you quoted it above - what else did you think a 'Features Update to Windows 10, version 1709' could be?

What version did you have before? 1703? 1607? See what's new here...

unless OP is using a slow internet connection.

downloading feature updates to Win10 (not cumulative updates) require a fast internet connection - at least 10Mbps (time to start switching to faster internet providers if not using at least this kind of speed).
it's barely impractical to download Win10 feature updates with a slow 3Mbps DSL connection, which will definitely take hours when using that kind of a slow connection.

No, it's not that. In 1703 Microsoft introduced a new Unified Update Platform (UUP). This reduces the downloads by using, as far as possible, the existing system files. The first Features Update to 'benefit' from the UUP is the Fall Creators Update.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update phased rollout approach

While this certainly reduced the download size for those updating via windows update, it seems to have had the unfortunate side effect on a (very) few systems that the CPU time required to process these differential updates is far longer than any time saved in downloading. For those affected in this way updating can take 6, 12 or even 24 hours to finish successfully. Some reports here...

Depending on your download speed, the actual download shouldn't have taken more than 1-2 hours. It would have been about 3GB, so you can work that out for yourself.

You seem to have been one of the unlucky ones where your PC's particular hardware/software has led to an excessively long time processing and installing the update once downloaded. You are not alone....
How long for feature update to Windows 10 version 1709 install

The good news is that however long it took, almost invariably the update was successful and error-free. Let's hope MS have learned lessons from this and improved the process before the next Feature Update.

In my case, I used the Media Creation Tool to download the install media and used that to manually update my machine. Not counting the download time, it took about 1-2 hours to install the update. Only Windows Update and the Update Assistant use the new 'differential download' feature, using the install media as I did downloads the full install media and bypasses the 'differential' processing that windows update would have employed.
