Windows 10: A First Look at the Windows Technical Preview

I do, of course, reserve the right to change my mind at any given moment...

Pretty sure though that I don't want any live tiles anywhere ever tho. I don't want anything connecting to anything unless I tell it to.

And I already have forecastfox on my browser, so even a weather exception is already covered.

So that’s what it’s about? Power?

Sorry. With all that power you’re keeping after booting up you won’t know your weather until you take time to open your browser, which is exposed to a number of Internet threats, while we fanbois and girls instantly get all kinds of data in our secure walled garden Start Screen. We have all sorts of apps to find out all sorts of things without opening up a browser. Even at that you should see what Modern IE blocks when using it. Furthermore, we know who’s collecting some of our data, whereas you don’t. *Biggrin

BTW, no comment on my other post claiming the efficiency of the system? Just wondering why some don't answer to those kinds of posts. I get all kinds of positive visitor messages from TIFKAM fans on them.

 

If it's the search functionality you are alluding to... there is no reason to believe the same functionality won't be implemented in the Start menu, using the same API's and producing similar results on the desktop,

 

Well I write a lot on the efficiency of the system as a whole, but that’s a good thought on the Start Menu search in upcoming 9. I’m wondering if they will implement Smart Search via Bing in it as well. If so, how?

First thing that comes to mind is that some users will say is that they’re being forced to use Bing even though it can be turned off.







If turned off, then one can’t use the “Everywhere” aspect of the search I would guess. If they do, then Bing would have to be used and open the results in IE on the desktop. Then some may complain that they’re being forced to use Bing and IE.

I should think legally that they won’t implement it at all in the new Start Menu, but only the Shadow knows for sure at this point. If so, those using the Start Menu are left to the basics as before, but word search included within its search API.

 

Oh perish the thought.... *Huh

I struck the want or need a start menu because the Start Screen is the Start menu - it's just bigger *Wink
- I need and want that short hand way of launching applications. *Cool*Nerd
