  1. ABSOLUTE Parental Control

Hello. I have searched for the answer to my issue, but can't seem to find just the right solution. The situation is I have a teenage son who attends an online charter school. But he has the drive and self-discipline at least with regard to school of a cheerio. And he's hanging himself with the autonomy. I need to set up a Win 10 laptop that will ONLY GO TO A HANDFUL OF WEBSITES. This machine needs to be so locked-down that he can't run any programs or apps, or obviously have access to any settings. The only thing it will do when it turns on is allow him to open one browser and then only take him to just a couple of sites. The school's site, of course, and the google suite of sites. They use GMAIL, and Google Classroom, Drive, Docs, etc. That's it. I need to rule this like a cruel overlord. Nothing I have found is comprehensive enough or secure enough. It's probably worth mentioning that the runt is a genius. Like literally. Everything I've tried to date has just been me embarrassing myself as he gets through it like a brick through a wet paper-towel. OpenDNS, third-party parental control software, none of it has risen to the challenge. He needs to be on that computer doing school work at least 4-5 hours a day. Whatever he is doing, it's not that. I cannot sit there over his shoulder and correct him every time he starts to drift toward youtube or games. I have a job. In addition to my job as a father, that is. One that pays me. One that I have to leave the house for. If anyone can help me, I would be appreciative beyond words. And one day, he will be, too. Keep in mind the perfect solution has got to be more advanced than him, but remedial enough for me to implement. That last part is the kicker. I need it good, fast, and cheap. lol. Kind Regards. JP

    :)

    Parental Controls aren't working

    Hi,

The issue could be because of corrupted files. I suggest you to delete the corrupted files yourself and see if it helps

to resolve the issue, please follow these steps:

    1) Make sure your children are signed out of any monitored accounts.

    2) Sign in with an administrator account and find the folder that contains the corrupted files.

There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is to enter the complete file path:

    • On the Start screen, type C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls and press Enter.

    • If you’d rather open each folder individually, follow these steps:
    a. Go to This PC

    b. Open C:, open the
ProgramData folder, open the Microsoft folder, open the
Windows folder, and open the Parental Controls folder.

    3) Delete all contents of the Parental Controls folder.

This will delete any corrupt files. Your settings will be downloaded again from familysafety.microsoft.com the next time you sign in.

Hope it helps. Reply with the result and I'll be happy to help you further. Thank you
