Windows 10: Accessing my Samsung Note 8 from a Windows 10 PC

I can't access my Samsung Note 8 from my Windows 10 based PC. I can see it on the file explorer, but the device with the phone unlocked does not appear in the pane to the right where typically the device is present with a bar showing the amount of memory used. Double clicking on the bar typically opens the files and I can access and transfer data from the phone to my PC or vice versa. Tried multiple ports. Tried to add the phone to the activation screen and nothing happen. No interest in cloud based pic transfer. Please advise.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

However, we suggest you to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter through these steps:

• Press Win + X then select Control Panel.
• Click Troubleshooting.
• Click Hardware and Sound then select Hardware and Devices.
• To run the troubleshooter, follow the steps from the wizard.
