Accessing previous user account after hdd to ssd migration

    Hi,

I was unable to update win 10 despite repeated attempts over many months so decided to move everything from the HDD to a new SSD, which seems to help the update "stick".

I used the samsung cloning software but the new SSD would not boot and when I went back to the old HDD it was now showing a bootmgr missing error despite just using the PC to do the clone from HDD to SSD! I tried to repair using a USB with Win10 made with the media tool but it would not repair the HDD.

So in the end I had to do a clean install of Win 10 on the SSD.

All the data which had been cloned was on the SSD so I was not too worried. I was forced to create a new Microsoft account when installing windows no option to skip as on the old HDD I had a local account along with other named accounts so my most recent data was in c:/users/users rather than c:/users/myname etc and now on the new SSD I have a "proper" Microsoft profile in c:/users/my new profile name.

My problem now is that even though I can see all my old data in the windows.old folder, I am unable to recover the messages which were in the windows mail app not outlook 365, just the basic mail app. I had created an IMAP account and made lots of folders, saved 5 years worth of email etc with no issues but now when I entered the IMAP detail to begin again I only have messages from the time of the update, 5 days ago rather than 5 years ago!

So how can I recover these messages which must have been stored locally in windows mail app against the user profile i have used for years. I can see a whole folder full of attachments and .dat files in windows.old/users/user/appdata/local/packages/microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps/localstate/files etc

Also, why on earth when the update is plainly causing such issues with HDD's have Microsoft not brought out their own cloning tool to make upgrading to an SSD smooth and painless when it is pretty much essential to being able to continue to use windows??????????

    :)

    Migration from Hdd to m2.SSD

Recently I have purchased a new laptop (hp probook 450 G4) and a new original windows 10 home edition and now I want to upgrade my 1 TB Hdd to a new m2 ssd and my laptop supports another slot for the m2 ssd so I can run both
the m2 ssd & hdd at the same time but I will make the m2 ssd the boot drive and the hdd will be the data drive.
MY Question is how can I migrate system drive to the new m2 ssd without the need to reinstall windows or any other installed programs and there is another thing, when I checked the disk management I found 3 recovery partitions will I have to
migrate them too or I have to migrate the system drive only
