Windows 10: Account recovery not working for old Microsoft account with Gmail Address

I own an old Microsoft account linked to my personal Gmail address that I can't recover. The only recovery mechanism is not working anymore old university email address and it seems I answer the questions in the account recovery form always wrong.I opened a 2nd account with the dot at another position, because dots in email addresses don't matter: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7436150?hl=en-ukhlrm=enanswer=2716936I explained my problem multiple times to Microsoft support agents but they don't seem to comprehend the basic problem.Please help me, how can I unlink my email address from

gmail problem

I have several gmail accounts and can sign into Chrome with each except for one.
When I attempt to sign in with the problem account it tells me that the password is incorrect.
Using Gmail's account recovery & 2 factor authentication gmail sends a verification code to my phone (which I receive).
The next step is to enter the verification code into account recovery which it accepts.
It then states that it will send a code to my recovery email address.
However, I don't receive the email.
I've attempted using a different recovery email address with no luck.
Now the email account is working since it receives (& sends) emails daily (vial Mailbird).
It's just not possible to sign into Chrome with it.
Any suggestions?

A screenshot might help us identify whether it is MS or gmail that is responsible for this (my guess is gmail). The MS instructions you linked to say that no verification should be required if 2FA (in gmail) is off.

I suggest you turn on 2FA in gmail, and try again.

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
