Windows 10: account unknown on local disk properties? windows 11

This is a fresh raw install of Windows 11 pro. Can Microsoft elaborate on what this is, and don't say it's an account that was previously deleted. This is a fresh raw install. Thank You for your time,[o]

Thank you Leibbi for your response. Also, You will see "Account Unknown" for an account that is not currently available. This could be from an account you deleted that had permissions, or from an account on another computer that is not connected.

Either way, it's safe to remove any listed "Account Unknown" entries in permissions if you are sure it's for an account that will no longer need permissions for the item.

Please check the registry if it's listed there:

To do that, please press Windows key + R and type Regedit and hit enter

Expand the HKEY_USERS, check if you will see unknown user from there. It looks like a long account.

Unknown Account in list of users (File Properties/Security) is commonly caused by incorrectly configured system settings or irregular entries in the Windows registry. This error can be fixed with special software that repairs the registry and tunes up system settings to restore stability

I will suggest you to run a system checker:

How to Use SFC /Scannow

1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator, very often referred to as an "elevated" Command Prompt.

2. Type sfc /scannow and then press Enter.

System File Checker will now verify the integrity of every protected operating system file on your computer. It might take a while to finish.

When the verification process completes, you'll see what seems the problem and it will fix it for you.

account unknown on local disk properties? (windows 11)

I was looking at the properties on my local drive and in the security tab i saw a account called account unknown and a bunch of letters and numbers ill put a screenshot down below, i tried removing it and a bunch of warnings showed up but then it was removed then couple of hours later its back. This is the third time it appears





EDIT: i recently had some of my accounts hacked by some @rambler.ru people (i got everything back)
