Windows 10: Acer Aspire 15 hibernating on its own when in use...

Hi there,

I've asked this question before and the solution only worked for a week or so. My laptop screen flashes and the laptop locks even when I'm using it. I have tried a plethora of things. Most recently, I modified the advanced sleep settings within the power options.

My advanced power settings are as followed:
-Hard disk

• On Battery Minutes: Never
• Plugged in: Never

-Sleep

- Sleep After

• On Battery: 15 mins
• Plugged in: 30 mins

- System Unattended Sleep Timeout

• On Battery: 20 mins
• Plugged in: 15 mins

- Allow Hybrid Sleep

Both are set to "off"

- Hibernate After

Both are set to "Never"


These are the settings I was instructed to change. This seemed to fix it for a few days, but the problem started happening again. I'm stumped! Sometimes I get an "autorotate" message in the corner of my screen before my laptop goes to sleep. Other times I'll get the same message and my keyboard will stop working entirely. This is getting a little frustrating and I'm not sure what to do next. I have reinstalled windows, scanned for malware, updated drives, reinstalled display drivers, defragged my system, and reset my battery a couple of times. I've even gone into regedit and poked around, but nothing seems awry there. My boot time is approximately 45s-70s and my hard drive and CPU usage usually stays in the low 20-30%.


I only have a handful of programs installed. I don't believe this is a hardware problem and my laptop is not overheating I've monitored core temperatures. I only have two devices plugged into my computer. One is a wired mouse and the other is USB logitech headphones. I check for updates daily... Does anyone have any idea of what I could do next?

Hi Captain.

While I'm not answering your question on a new AV I would suggest as a possible step, upgrading your ram.

Crucial has ram for your device. $40 (not sure about tax or shipping) Your device seems to have one slot so you would need the 4GB stick. As you are using 32bit OS you can only use of 3GB. Crucial says you have one slot for memory and tear down videos seem to confirm this.

Memory is static sensitive. Not as much of an issue when it is humid but still something to be aware of. If you don't want to buy a ground strap touch something that is grounded before starting the procedure and then don't go looking for things. Stay seated and perform. You should be fine.

External ram ??? Even if you could buy you wouldn't have port with sufficient speed to connect.
