About making screenshot and post it here..
Windows 10 have a nice app called snipping tool. You can run it by clicking on Start button (low left corner) and start typing snip.. Snipping tool will appear in the list. Click on it and small app will appear. Click on "new" and make picture of screen. Then click on edit and copy

Another easy way is to press together Windows+shift+s. Screen will turn foggy and cross will appear on screen. With that cross (clicking left mouse button, holding it down and dragging around an area on screen) you can copy part of the screen in clipboard (memory).

Now you can paste that picture in answer windows by pressing Control+V (or shift+insert) in the place where cursor is. I have to click on first button in toolbar before that.

It is important for us to see what files are there, so we can give you instructions how to delete them.

Btw, did you uninstall that program you mentioned in your first post? Or is it still there..

I did try to do a 'restore' on 27 July as I was having problems with laptop freezing. It took absolutely ages! and eventually finished with the message 'cannot restore' or something like that.
The 249 files I mentioned start as 00a1, 00a2 then 00B, c,d, etc and after 009 a b c d e f change to 0010 carry on in sequence to finishing at 0099 - every one is 200mb and finishes with BOOT NXT and recovery TXT.
I am trying to do a screen print but no success so far - will keep trying!
    Thanks

Re. the two partitions - when I go into This PC it shows only Drive C at 95GB and no other drives unless I put in a flash drive in usb port and that then shows as a drive.

If picture is a problem, try with text.

Open command prompt or powershell and type
    dir C:\

if files in question don't show up, type

    dir C:\ /ah

mark some files with cursor and press Control+ V here in answer.

Do you see those files in File explorer (if select show hidden files). Select them (~00 files) and try to delete them.
    don't delete other files

Could be from various reasons - i.e. compressing some very large files.. or because of malware..

    open command prompt and type

Thanks but do not understand. Went into search - file explorer and only showed last 14 files but at top was just one called 00d and this was for that July date when I went into properties and was 200mb. Could not see any more.
    Don't understand command prompt.

Other files are probably hidden. That's not unusual.

Command prompt is really simple. You type one command after another. You could run script, but I think some commends (just to clear some disk space) would be fine.

In that black window type (or even better copy) commands from the post above. Line by line:
    first: cd C:\
    then: del ~00??

if files won't be deleted, we'll change some attributes of that files.

  11. moggie, as I am an elderly person I know what you mean.

See if this works for you. I probably I can’t explain it in exact detail but I hope you can get through this.
Make sure you have your cursor positioned where you want to have your picture placed in your post

Left click on the insert image icon as shown in post #14
An insert image dialog box will show up
    Left click on browse.
Find the image you wish to post that is in your pictures folder.
Left click the picture: you will see the title of your picture appear in the file name section
    Left click on Open
Left click on upload files that’s in the Insert image section you saw above
The image will be positioned in your post

Another thing you can do is type the partitions as presented in Disk Management in case placing your image in your post doesn’t work out.

Here is a disk management on a computer I just picked up

Acer Aspire V showing very little free GB - please help me! [IMG]

Here are the typed information for each one of those partitions
    Disk 0 partition 1 Healthy (Recovery Partition) 400 MB 400 MB 100%
Disk 0 partition 2 Healthy (EFI System Partition) 300 MB 300 MB 100%
    Disk 0 partition 5 Healthy (Recovery Partition) 450 MB 450 MB 100%
    Disk 0 partition 6 Healthy (Recovery Partition) 15.74 GB 15.74 GB 100%
Gateway C Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition) 448.77 GB 394.71 GB 88%

You can copy and paste that typed information into your post and edit appropriate sections

Acer Aspire V showing very little free GB - please help me!

    AndreTen

I have managed to make it work!

All the files are the same date - the day in July I tried a 'restore' and after an hour it told me 'restore' had failed.

I have deleted the first 20 files one by one as a test case and each time the free space has increased with no harm to my PC!

Should I now carry on and delete the remaining 229 files? Why did they appear in the first place - was it because the restore was not successful and it left files in place which would have disappeared had the restore worked?

    Thanks again

OK, try this way. I wrote that lines in del_00.bat file - at the bottom of post.
Save it to you desktop and double click. ~00xx files should be gone and there will remain two new files "attrib.txt" and temp.txt
command attrib is there to se what kind of files are those, if it doesn't work first time...

File del_00.bat contain this simple lines:
    del_00a.bat

Changed attrib line to shows attributes instead of clear hidden

    attrib ~00?? > attrib.txt

Well - all is ok. I got there eventually with your help. If nothing else I have learned to use 'snippet' and 'treesize'
Looking in Acer C now I have 52GB free of 95GB which is what it was approximately before all the problems.
    Thanks again
