Windows 10: Acer G246HL Monitor - Resolution suddenly stuck at 1024x768

I've had an Acer G246HL 24-inch 1920x1080p monitor for 5 years and until now it has worked without a single problem. However, I woke up my computer today and found that the monitor wouldn't wake up along with it. I rebooted my computer and then it did wake up....and the resolution was screwed up. It changed to 1024x768 with no way to change it back. The only options in both Windows settings and nVidia control panel were that and 800x600. Reinstalling my GPU or monitor drivers didn't solve the problem.

So I tried using an HDMI to connect one of the HDMI ports on the GPU to my HDTV. No problems there, it outputted at 1080p with no problems.

I then got a DVI to HDMI adapter to do some testing.

Computer DVI to TV HDMI = perfect 1080p output Computer HDMI to Monitor DVI = 1074x768 input or No Signal.

This rules out the GPU as all ports can output to the TV without problems.

I then tried hooking up my laptop to the Monitor.

Laptop HDMI to Monitor DVI = No Signal.

I then, just for fun, plugged my Wii U of all things into the monitor.

Wii U HDMI to Monitor DVI = .... PERFECT 1080p OUTPUT. Nintendo Switch HDMI to Monitor DVI = .... PERFECT 1080p OUTPUT.

I then plugged it back into my computer and got screwy output....

I then plugged it into my Dad's Optiplex computer and it was able to go up to 1080p with no problems (DVI to Monitor VGA)

Tried my desktop's DVI to Monitor VGA ..... screwy input.

I don't get it, what happened?! My computer can output to everything except the monitor. My monitor won't accept any proper inputs except for my Wii U and my dad's computer. I am completely confused.

Resolution stuck at 1024x768

I have an nVidia GTX 560 paired with a S23A550H samsung monitor and my resolution when using an HDMI cable has been stuck at 1024x768 even though my monitor supports up to 1080p (and is working perfectly).

When I connect the monitor through a VGA cable + DVI adapter it unlocks all the resolutions for me to choose but then the image is bad due to the VGA cable.

Things I've done so far:

a) Completely re-installed Windows (updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10);

b) Installed monitor driver;

c) Updated Chipset drivers;

d) Different HDMI cables;

e) Changed the slot for the graphic card;

f) Tried changing resolution via registry (found the strings on my own, changed then and it was still 1024x768 after restarting);

g) Obviously updated and unistalled and re-installed nVidia drivers.

h) Also tried to create a customized resolution via nVidia control panel but it did not work.

It all started when I got an old 20" monitor to replace my now-fixed monitor. It defaulted to 1024, allowing me to change resolutions back to normal just once which is weird. Since then, even when plugging my newer monitor, the resolution has been stuck
at 1024.

I'm thinking at this point it may be a graphic card issue but I'm completely lost. Any help would be appreciated.

Acer P191W Monitor Driver

After upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7, my Acer P191W monitor is no longer recognized. It has defaulted to an incorrect/stretched resolution of 1024x768 and Device Manager shows it as Acer X193W, which is incorrect. It also will not allow me to chose
the monitor resolution of 1440x900 (it's not available in the drop down).

Is there a driver for the P191W monitor? If not, is there an alternate driver which will allow me to use the monitor's native resolution?

 

Resolution is 1024x768 instead of 1336x768

The purpose of the installer is to place LG HD 16.inf and LG HD 16.icm in the right locations.

I'm not sure that I have ever seen a monitor show up as a "Generic Non-PnP Monitor". Generic PnP (plug and play), yes.

It may be as simple as a bad VGA cable. Particularly if you got the same thing with two different graphics cards.
