Fingerprint Scanner Not Working

To resolve this issue try the following steps:

• 
  Have you updated the driver for the Finger Print scanner? If not, check on the manufacturer’s website (HP).
  
• 
  Check if installing the latest driver of the fingerprint scanner allows you to login using a Microsoft Account?
  

This issue might occur due to driver incompatibility since upgrading to Windows 10.



If you have the raw executable file of the corresponding driver for the validity sensor, I would suggest you to install the downloaded driver file in compatible mode with Windows 7 or 8. Refer to the following steps to do so.

• 
  Right click on the driver, and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Go to the Compatibility tab.
  
• 
  Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  
• 
  Select Windows 7 in the list of Operating systems.
  
• 
  Click OK.
  
• 
  Double-click the driver file to install the driver and follow the onscreen instructions.
  
• 
  Reboot your computer.

Fingerprint scanner not recognised.

I have an ASUS computer, with a fingerprint scanner. The scanner was working fine, up until I installed the Windows 10 1909 update. Now it says that there are no compatible fingerprint scanners for Windows Hello fingerprint sign-in.

Windows Hello fingerprint set up issues be a security risk which is why it is essential to take care of this as soon as possible. Usually, driver incompatibility can cause this issue. Since you have checked that your drivers are updated but the issue persists,
try to roll back the drivers or use default drivers instead. Check out the methods below:

Method 1: Roll back the drivers

• Open Device Manager by right clicking the Start
  and choosing Device Manager from the list.
• Locate your fingerprint driver and double click it to open its properties.
• Click the Roll Back Driver button.

Method 2: Use default drivers

• Open Device Manager.
• Find your fingerprint scanner driver.
• Right click it and choose Uninstall device.
• Check Delete the driver software for this device and click
  Uninstall.

If the issue is still the same, you can try to switch to local account or
create a new account and set up fingerprint scanner for it then delete the new account and switch back to old one.
