Windows 10: Activate Windows 10

If I did try it, I wouldn't run both, I'd delete the VM. I might try it later. Like in a couple of months after I finish with almond harvest. If it works I'll let you know.

 

I finally managed to get my W10 to Activate.

 

Hello Brink - You mentioned you might be interested in how my case came out -
1) I had a Windows 8 Pro disk. I used a portable DVD to load as a clean install onto my HP Stream PC-13 - Product - K3N16UA, w 2GB of Ram and out of 35 GB HD there was 22 GB available. During the process of loading Windows 8 Pro and Updating it I ran out of Space.
2) I called HP and they agreed to send me Windows 8.1 restoration USB drive. That took about 2 hrs.
3) I had gone to the Microsoft store so they could search for the Product Activation Key from my old registry. I went back today and told all that I had gone through, and the amount of space left on my HD. The Manager gave me a copy of Windows 10 with a USB and Product Activation Key. I consider this to be a Blessing.
4) I installed - reclaimed a large amount of the HD - now have 28 GB available. I loaded Windows 10 on the HP Stream PC-13.
5) I have also upgraded My Wife and I's Satellite P75-A7100 to Windows 10. I am Good Now Thanks
6) Arbitration with Manufacturers works sometimes - especially when it is an Honest effort to solve a problem

It wouldn't matter. All Insider preview keys have been blocked from being able to activate with.

The only way to activate Windows 10 is to:

1) Upgrade to free offer Windows 10 from an activated Windows 7 or 8.1

2) Purchase a retail copy of Windows 10, and enter the included product key during installation.

 

Ok, big thx, i had Win 7 Home Premium, so i will re-install it, and then upgrade -> 10. That's for my laptop.

hello, recently i've bought a new laptop with windows 8.1 pre-installed and i've upgraded it to windows 10. if i doing a ram upgrade, do i have to reactivate my windows again, or i can't activate my windows because of hardware changes ? this laptop have 4 gb ram and i want to upgrade it to 8 gb *Think thank you before..

Upgrading or changing your RAM alone will not cause Windows 10 to no longer be activated.

It would need to be a significant hardware change like a motherboard, or a CPU and graphics card combination.

Did you upgrade to the free offer of Window 10 from an activated Windows 7 or 8.1 PC?

If not, then the free Windows 10 will not be activated.

a while ago I purchased a win 8 key cannot recall the site, I had a ransomeware attack lost just about all. I bought this for my daughters laptop planning to install 8.1 turns out the key was for 8 only. I paid extra for it, I asked microsoft if this was illegal and generally I got the impression they were not interested when he said try it and see. I had my doubts about the key, but windows activated.

I purchased another key for my other daughter laptop and this turned out to a hacked key. not wanting to pay any more, I used the other key to activate her windows 8

I am unsure whether to upgrade either machine, as I used the same key twice. they are identical models exactly same spec even softwate.

 

Who did you purchase these keys from? Pretty good chance they are both illegal from the tone of your post. The second install with the first key is absolutely a violation of the EULA.
