Windows 10: Activation after hardware change with installation ID fails in Help Bot/Virtual Agent

Hello together,


after a mainboard change my reactivation doesn't work. Error code: 0xC004C008.

The old activation were linked to my Microsoft account.


Tried the activation in the Virtual Agent twice today and yesterday per mobile phone twice.


What should I do now?

Purchased the digital license two months ago at notebooksbilliger.de (big german retailer).

Hey Booker. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

If Windows came pre-installed on the PC then changing the motherboard voids the license. Free Upgrade inherits that restriction. This is the way it's always been with Windows. You'll need to buy a new license:

If it is retail Windows you purchased separately then follow these steps for reactivating:

Run the Activation Troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Activation.

You can also ask for help from MS Support to get it activated:

To get to a chat or phone agent you must spam the Virtual Agent with keyword Activation, try and report back steps don't help, then keep insisting on Agent.

Virtual Agent: country not listed

I tried to schedule a call using the virtual agent but my country of residence is not listed.

Is there any other way for me to get help?

 

Cannot activate windows after a hardware change

Hey all

I've just upgraded the hardware in my p.c and cannot activate windows, I've tried all the virtual agent suggestions.

I upgraded to windows 10 free from windows 8 and i cannot seem to find the digital license key, any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated.
