Activation issues [BSOD After bad restart, Error 0xc0000185 Problem]

I am aware of the fix to this error, however:

    My Problem:

After installing a bootable version of Windows 10 onto a USB, I am able to install a new version of Windows. However I get to a screen that requires a Product Key, I was running Windows 10 before this so I assume if I press the Skip button it might find an old version of Windows 10 and repair the files. After waiting a few hours for it to install I received another error saying I didn't use a Product Key and it was stuck there, I had to reset.

Sadly it returned to the install screen when I booted it back up.
The laptop came with Windows 8.1 Pre-Installed, but I recently went to 10 before the BSoD, I have no Product Key, am I royally screwed and have to pay for one? Or is there a way around this mess?

    Thanks for reading.

    :)

  2. Random BSOD in Windows 10

    Hello again,

I remove Driver Verifier and do a restart - no BSOD. Done that several times - no problems.

Activate Driver Verifier and again it goes in a restart loop. After 3rd restart appears "Automatic System Repair" and from there I choose "Start-up Repair" again. If I choose something else from this menu, the restart-loop reappear.

    No BSODs, no minidumps.

Don't know if it's good or bad. Any suggestions?

  3. Error Code: 0xc0000185 and keyboard characters changed on upgrading to windows 10

Original Title: Error Code: 0xc0000185 when upgrading to win 10

    Hi,

I upgraded my windows from 8.1 to 10 today. During the installing period, I got an error message: 0xC0000185, it says a required device isn't connected.

But after continuing the installation, the installation was completed, it seems working OK after login. But when I do login, my keyboard is funny, press \ key, the out put is #, press ", the output is @, and so on.

My questions are 1) does 0xC0000185 causes the keyboard problem?

    2) if 0xC0000185 error is not relivent to the keyboard error, How to fix the keyboard error?

    3) Do I need fix the 0xC0000185 error? and how?

    Many thanks.
