Windows 10: Activity Logging and Analysis for a Data Geek

I am looking for some help with logging my activity on windows. Please note I am a bit of a data nerd and so what I am looking for is a bit different from a beginner user. While I can't program, I can usually find my way through cmd and more advanced windows options if I have some good resources.


I want to log in a few areas:


1. File activity on my desktop computer (Windows XP I think)

2. File activity on my laptop computer (windows 10)

3. Activity under my personal microsoft account

4. Activity under my work Microsoft 365 account

5. Internet history in Chrome

6. Use times by computer program

7. Outlook, Teams and Skype for business activity on my iPhone (I presume this data is in Office 365)


I want to find a way to summarize my computer activity and view how I have spent my time. This allows me an audit trail of my work and personal time and to substantiate on contracts how I have been billing my time. I want to do this without compromising my personal security and privacy. While I sometimes have detailed notes, I miss the aggregate time when I am quickly working on a project and forget to take notes and I want to audit my time to see where I am missing time. This is to improve time billing as well as review my own personal productivity. This also would allow me to find files that I worked on for specific projects that later are forgotten. For example, I know I spent a week researching a specific legal issue. Later I want to find all files I produced/downloaded/reviewed in that date range to find a specific item from that project.


So far, my strategy has been to manually gather data as follows (I have added my key question or difficulty to each activity):


1. Review history in Skype for business. Skype for business seems to have an incomplete activity history which is very frustrating. Hopefully, colleagues will shift over to Teams soon so that I can retire the use of this software.

2. Activity history in Microsoft Teams. This is problematic because the activity history is incomplete, does not show all activities and is cumbersome. TO be able to export to excel would be great!

3. Search in the file explorer by files accessed dates (Example "accessed:‎2019-‎02-‎21 .. ‎2019-‎03-‎20") and view the results. I would like to know what command to use in cmd to export to excel a sheet of dates and times files were accessed in a date range so I can produce some analysis. File names alone are not enough-- I need dates and times. I also would like to know if this is returning me the last accessed date or all access dates for a file. For example, if I accessed a file on March 5th and 6th, will the file show up on a search for both dates or only a search of the accessed date of March 6th?

4. Manually view email send times and dates. Currently, I scroll through outlook and make a manual list. I would like to know if I can create a report of emails sent including recipients, date & time of sent emails and subject lines in excel.


I would love some suggestions! As you can see, my current process is very cumbersome. Feel free to answer a portion of the questions outlined above as there are a few questions here!

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
