Yes, on Win10, if you click to disable and re-enable, it clears the list. I did this, inadvertently and the list is gone. I don't know how long it will take for it to rebuild.

I was having a problem with the history in the RUN in Start. No history, and in settings the option to turn on or off the most recent used apps was greyed out and could not be set to on (it was off and and greyed out). Your hint about the registry key gave me the solution. The value in Explorer/advanced was set to 0. Manually changed it to 1 and that gave me back the control over that setting. Turned it on and the history in RUN started working again. GREAT HINT

Pin the program to the start menu, then unpin it. It's now allowed to be in the MRU again.

  5. Does it ever update most used for most people. I have all my stuff pinned that I often use. But I notice most used never really updates. It has apps I barely ever go into like 'tips' or 'people'. Seems to be more of a 'least used' list than 'most used' and appears to of been static for months

Yes mine updates regularly, I don't use pinned. Since I use more than 6 apps and only 6 go in the MRU list, they often swap about depending on what I've been doing recently. Pinning something stops it appearing in most used. But if you've had it pinned for ages and used it a lot, then unpinning it should allow it into most used.

  7. Ah right. Thank you, yes most of my apps are pinned already which I guess explains the lack of change!
