Windows 10: Add or Remove SEC NVMe Idle Timeout from Power Options in Windows 10

Please share your findings when able. It'll be interesting to see what results you have.

 

Is it worth setting SEC NVMe Idle Timeout to 0 or just adding the option with default of 200 is enough?

C5 Power saver

Go to settings>general>personalisation>display

Set the power saver timeout to a value much less than light timeout. Eg power saver timeout: 10 sec

light timeout: 60 secs. That way you can enjoy your power saver for 50 secs.

But ultimately, the screen will blank out.

 

Nokia E5 backlight issue

This bug can be avoided by setting the power save timeout to be shorter than the light timeout. Even a 5 seconds difference is enough. F.e. setting the power saver timeout to 10 secs and light timeout to 15 secs works for me.

Setting it to "0" will have the NVMe never power down from being idle.

This may increase performance with the NVMe always on, but it may also cause the NVMe to heat up more.

I'd say it would be worth benchmarking before and after while also keeping an eye on temps to see if it makes any difference for you or not.

 

Yea I'll do that sometime. Since I use this machine for work I should be conservative. Is 200 ms quite long?

 

You would probably never notice it.
