  1. Added 2 new drives to Storage Spaces and Getting PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Spaceport.sys

I just added 2 new drives to Windows 10 Storage Spaces, and now I am getting a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD for Spaceport.sys when drives are attached, then sometimes randomly when they are not attached.

Already ran DISM Health Commands and SFC scan.

Drive Spaces Not Finding Moved Drives When New Drive Added

I have a Storage Spaces pool with a single parity space created. I was adding a new drive. I'll call the drives OLD and NEW. I did he following steps over time:

    1. plug the NEW drive into an external drive dock

    2. add the NEW drive to the storage

    3. verified that NEW and OLD drive were in the pool

    3. shut down PC

    3. move the NEW drive to the internal bay

    4. move the OLD drive to the external drive dock

    5. turn on PC

Result: NEW drive shows up in storage spaces, but OLD drive is marked as missing from the storage space. Disk Management shows the OLD drive as a volume that is part of a storage space even though storage spaces doesn't see it.

To troubleshoot, I did the following:

    1. turn off PC

    2. unplug power from NEW drive

    3. turn on PC

Result: OLD drive shows up in the storage spaces, but NEW drive is missing as it is not powered on.

I can go back and forth connecting and disconnecting the power to the NEW drive and always receive the same result: the OLD drive in an external dock is recognized by drive spaces only when the NEW drive is not connected internally. If I put the NEW drive
back in the external dock and the OLD drive back in the internal bay, both work correctly.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be going on and how to fix it?

Error adding drive to Storage Spaces

I'm running Windows 10 Pro and I've been trying to add a drive to my simple storage space. I first tried a 6TB WD drive but kept getting an error. After researching online here it seemed just that drive wasn't compatible. So I found an old 80GB Hitachi
drive and tried it but I'm getting the same error.

I can see it in Device Manager, I can see it in the Storage Spaces app. I can see it in the Disk Management tool. I can see it in Powershell get-disk as well. I can use the drive normally, I ran long hardware tests on it with no errors, the drive works
    as normal.

But as soon as I go to add it to the storage pool I get this error. I've also tried adding it in Safe Mode. I tried to add it inside Powershell but it would not come up in the list of available drives to pool. Here is the error:

    Can't prepare drives

Close all applications that are accessing the drive, and then try again.

    Code:
The system cannot find the file specified. (0x00000002)

  4. Added 2 new drives to Storage Spaces and Getting PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Spaceport.sys

External Drive using storage spaces does not work on my new Win 10 PC?

    Hi Leo,

Storage Spaces not only increase storage over time as you add drivers to your PC, it will also help you in protecting your data from drive failures. To isolate your concern, we'd like to know if you were getting any error messages when trying
to connect the external drive to your new PC. Also, can you tell us what troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to perform a diagnostic process on your system that will check and fix issues related to Storage Spaces. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    • Type troubleshooting in the Search bar, then press
      Enter.
    • Click View all from the left pane.
    • Locate and click Hardware and Devices to run the troubleshooter then follow the next steps.

Furthermore, here is a link for more information about the Storage
    Spaces in Windows 10
    .

We'll be looking forward to your response.
