    Adding Admin Account

    I'm trying to add a backup Admin account on W10 on a personal laptop.

    First I have to log into Microsoft. (Why should I have to do that on my home PC?)

    Second I have to provide email addresses for the account. Again, why should I have to do this?

    I quit after this. Am I in the wrong place to simply add an account?

    It sounds like it's asking you to enter the password of your wife's administrator account to approve the action of changing your account type to be an administrator.
