Windows 10: AdDuplex Windows 10 and Surface Report for January 2020 available

Windows 10 2019 updates are now on more than 2/3 of PCs.

Windows 10 OS Worldwide (PCs)

May 2019 Update is now on 53.4% of Windows 10 PCs and November 2019 Update is on 15.2%.

More than 90,000 Windows 10 PCs were surveyed.

Windows 10 OS Worldwide History (PCs)

Two-thirds of Windows 10 PCs now run some 2019 edition of the OS.

Note: we don't have the data for the initial rollout of the first update to Windows 10 (1511, also known as Threshold 2). So it's a straight line from 0 to the first data point we have on August 22nd, 2016.

Surface Family

Interestingly, Surface Go shot up in the chart since the last time we checked.

Surface Pro 7 is on a familiar upward track of all the "classic" Surface Pro devices, while Laptop 3 and Pro X occupy the niche just above the Studio All-in-Ones.

AdDuplex Windows 10 and Surface Report for January 2019 now available

Will Windows 10 October 2018 Update reach critical mass before the next update is released?

Windows 10 OS Worldwide (PCs)

Out of more than 100,000 PCs surveyed, only 12.4% run the October Update.

While this number is almost double of what we've seen last month, it's still far away from the dominating April 2018 Update (80.2%).

With only a few months to go until the next Windows 10 update is supposed to go mainstream, it is unclear if some PCs may have to install two major updates within a short period of time or go straight from A18U to 19H1.

October Update has been growing steadily over the last couple of months, but it clearly needs to accelerate in February or be scrapped altogether in favor of going straight to 19H1.

Surface Family

This month's Surface chart is an interesting insight into how new devices go up in our charts right after holidays, when people are setting them up and exploring new apps, and then scale down a bit when things get settled.

All newer models have dropped in usage share on the AdDuplex network in January compared to December.

AdDuplex Windows 10 and Surface Report for December 2018 now available

Is December, finally, a month of Windows 10 October 2018 update?

Windows 10 OS Worldwide

Windows 10 October 2018 update has more than doubled its share since last month. It is still in single digits and pales in comparison to that of an April update (83.6%).

O18U is at just 6.6% going into 2019.

October Update is unique throughout the history of Windows 10 updates. While previous updates inevitably shoot up after a month or two on the market, O18U is still lingering near the zero axis on the chart.

Surface Family

As expected from new mainstream models, Surface Go and Surface Pro 6 are moving up the Surface chart and are now in 4th and 5th place respectively.
