Windows 10: Adjusting Screen Brightness on Windows 10 without Mouse

I was wondering if there was a way for me to only use my keyboard to adjust my screen brightness.


My brightness level was at 100%. I tried to change it using the shortcut on the bottom right-hand side, where you can also make adjustments such as putting the computer in night mode. I believe that's where you can pull up notifications as well. Anyways, there seems to be a bug with it, and it frustratingly brought my screen to 0% as soon as I clicked that button. I know this, because I saw it change to 0% right before everything turned black. Now, when I turn on my computer, everything is functional, but my screen is completely black about a second after I get to the login screen. I got into Safe Mode at one point (which is also frustrating to get into with Windows 10), but, of course, the brightness is a slider and is not available for adjustment in Safe Mode.


Therefore, I'm hoping someone can give me step-by-step instructions on how to adjust it using just my keyboard. I know the first step would be typing in my password, but I'm not sure where to go beyond that. I cannot see anything at all.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Adjust Screen Brightness and Resolution in Windows 10

The screen brightness adjustment keys of my HP Pavilion laptop are not recognized by Windows 10. It is so bright that it is harming our eyes. Also, I followed the suggested alternate steps from many websites and none of them worked as the brightness adjustment
option is not at all available even not inside Control Panel.

Please note that before installing Windows 10, I got notification that my laptop is compatible for the upgrade. Can you please help?

If however you are not able to change the brightness, I suggest you update your display drivers and check if it helps:

You can update drivers from the Device Manager.

• • Right click on start button and click on Device manager.
    
  • Select Display adapter and expand it.
  • Right click on the device and select Update driver.
