Windows 10: admin has blocked app

Hey. im relatively new to running a PC, been out of the game for a few years due to running on an xbox but i got a gaming PC a few months back and bough an external DVD/CD drive to run some old games i have on disk but ive ran into a few problems. every time i try run the start up for any game i get the "admin has blocked you from running this app, for more information please contact admin" but im the admin for this PC an its the only account on the PC. ive goen through a few guides online an they all seem to mention disabling windows defender and smart screen so ive tried that and it still doesn't work.


Ive updated the PC recently and with every update thats been released since i got it and im running Windows 10 Home version 2004.


if anyone could shed some light on any possible solutions it would be greatly appreciated as i just wanna play some of the older games i have.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

• Log in to https://familysafety.microsoft.com/ using your Microsoft Email account.
• Find the user that is correspond to the computer account on the Windows that you are having issue with.
• Click on "App Restrictions".
• Under App Restrictions, click on "App list".
• Here, you can Allow or Block the Apps/Games that you want.

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

• Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
  Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
• A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
• Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.
