  1. Admin rights

Ok, I've got a Dell laptop that was originally Windows 8, and has been updated (not by choice) to Windows 10 a few years back. Have not had any issues like this before, and I am not aware of any recent changes to cause it.

I am trying to copy some files from a folder in Documents, to a folder in Programfles (x86). When I do, it says I need admin rights. When I click on the continue with admin rights button, it comes up with an "invalid syntax" error message. Both folders show they are read only. I can undo read only in the folder in Documents, but it will change itself back afterwards. I cannot change read only in the program files folder, as it wants admin rights again.

I have spend hours looking online for solutions.

Some people said that One Drive can cause the read only issue, so I uninstalled it.

I tried activating the main Admin account.

My current user account is set to Admin. These are the only two accounts, I have removed the other two that were in there.

I've run a fresh Spybot malware check.

Many other fixes revolve around changing the UAC settings, however I CANNOT click on any of those links. If I go into control panel and then into the users section, nothing happens if I try to click on any link that has the admin access shield next to it. If I try to change any permissions in the user popup window, it either won't let me click on anything admin related, or gives me the invalid syntax message again. I can see that my current user selection does not have full access, but I can't change those settings.

Getting very frustrated at this point. I hate Windows 10 and hate that it updated to it without my permission. I also have to turn on my laptop in a very odd and unique way since the Windows 10 update, which is also annoying.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

    admin rights keep disappearing!?!!

    Hi guys,

I am actually having a problem at work that our IT department hasn't been able to figure out. I am supposed to be a member of the admin group. We are on a domain. The problem is that everytime I reboot the computer I loose my admin rights(no longer in the administrator group) and just become a normal user again. I have tried googling this and didn't get to many results.
I believe IT is just giving me local admin rights, not admin rights for the whole domain.

    Any suggestions?

EDIT: It is on Windows XP Pro.

  4. Admin rights

    No admin rights

Downloaded as suggested on a USB. Tried to install but was blocked with no admin rights. Very frustrating.
