  1. administrator is laptop & can't change it to microsoft account

I have tried several "help" from Microsoft & HP - not helpful - just try to sell me Smartfriend or Azure. This computer is still under warranty so why do I have to pay for help when their help screwed it up?!

I have refreshed, re-downloaded windows 10 several times, but nothing works because the issue is related to their partial use of a deleted e-mail attaching it to the computer name. Example: Desktop-xxxxx\jklm. Consequently it pulled in windows 8.1 from a previous computer. I can't get rid of it. My microsoft account isn't the administrator, the laptop see Example is. In order for me to delete the current Administrator, I need Administrator privileges.

Microsoft engineers need to simplify instructions and find a way to secure pc's from INCOMING threats. Currently microsoft security secures from allowing the pc owner to control the pc. I can be hacked, but can't make changes onMY PC. Doesn't make any sense. The average person is expected to comprehend technical jargon.

I called for help with my accounts 7/3/2020. Rather than addressing the account problem she promises to send instructions to reboot the computer in bios. I looked up what that erases on the hard drive - it doesn't remove the profile which is the REAL problem. I'm afraid to perform this task since this pc has been reset several times already. If I follow these instructions, I'm thinking it will crash as has happened with my former pc. So what can I do to gain control of MY pc?

    :)

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account

Hi Daryl, welcome to the Ten Forums.

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

    Tutorials:
Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. Should my Microsoft Account have administrator privileges?

I just finished reinstalling Windows 10 (Creator version) and decided to have the installation process create a Microsoft Account instead of bypassing that step like I have on other laptops in the past and creating a local account later. After the install I went to Accounts in the settings and saw that the Microsoft Account was listed as an Administrator. I always thought the main user should only have standard privs for security purposes. Thoughts? Should I create a new admin account and try and change the MSA to a standard account?

  4. administrator is laptop & can't change it to microsoft account

Can't change sign in from Local Administrator to Microsoft Account

    Hello Perica,

I realize your concern. Let me help you with this issue.

I guess you're trying to access the apps on built in administrator account. Yes, you can't access them using built-in Administrator account. In order to access them you should use Microsoft account. Try with the below mentioned steps and check if it helps
    you.

Suggest you to try the below mentioned steps to fix this issue, when you access the desktop screen:

    • Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.

    • Click File >
      Run New Task

    • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges

    • Type CMD and hit Enter key. Type or copy/paste the following commands at the CMD prompt and hit Enter key:
    net user test /add

    • This command will create a new user account called test.

    net localgroup administrators test /add

    • On executing this command makes
test account as administrator. In simple this will give administrator privileges to test account by adding it to administrators group.
Note: In the above command line,
test is the name of the User Profile which we're creating. You can keep any name in the place of
test that which you think your User Profile name should be.

Now logoff from the existing User Profile. When you're on the login screen, on the left bottom corner you can see the account which we have created. Now login with that account and try to convert that account
as Microsoft account by navigating to Start/>
Settings/>Accounts/>Your Account/> Sign with Microsoft account Instead.
If you have Microsoft account try to use that by entering the credentials or else follow the steps to sign-up for new and switch with new Microsoft account.

Once you done with this, now check if you're able to access the app there.

Keep us posted if you require further assistance.
