Before I begin, I would like to ask for your understanding that I am not familiar with English.

I am Korean, and I couldn't get useful answers in Korea Community so I headed here. I don't expect people who see this can understand my writing, but I uploaded it just in case. The English level of all Koreans is not as poor as I am, please don't misunderstand Korean.

I have used Windows which is not genuine, and I installed genuine window 10 edu few days ago. I manipulated many setting files refered to the Internet. Some of them were related to "administrator authority".

Today, I opened the folder named "My computer". There were a lot of folders e.g. app data, application data, Cookies, IntelGraphicsprofiles etc. that I couldn't find until yesterday [picture1]. I thought some changes about "administrator authority"settings caused them.

To eliminate some authorities I gave yesterday, I followed what others do.

    [picture 2]

Firstly, I entered Control Panel>Users Accounts and tried to change type of accounts. I couldn't select "Standard" button but I made this selected by searching the Internet. There was no Administrator on the right, until then[picture2].

Next, I tried to push a button named "Sign in with a local account instead" in Windows settings>accounts>Your accounts, but there wasn't the button. I can't remember why I tried this exactly. [picture3]-the button should be put in the last line.

To make the button, I refered to

I'm afraid for my English is not enough to translate added site.

I couldn't do step 1, so I used step 2 instead. I proceeded this to step 3-3.Now, I got "Administer" accounts, and I can see two accounts while logging in. [picture 4] has no changes from the beginning.

    [picture 6]

I'm stuck in phase 3-3, as I am not sure which files I have to delete.[picture5/6]

First of all, I want to finish the process of the added link.

Also, I want to return my settings about "administer authority" properly=safe.

Finally, if it is not a way to organize the folders [picture1], I'd like to know how to make them invisible.

Thank you for reading my long, inaccurate writing.

    :)

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

Got the laptop. It's a Lenovo G500 so possibly has Lenovo stuff in the way? Anyway, booted it normally and it opens into a regular account without admin privileges. Rebooted it into Recovery mode (per Option 5) and get Lenovo logo and Preparing Automatic Repair message; then Select Account + "You need to sign in as an administrator to continue but there aren't any administrator accounts on this PC". There is an option "Forgot your password or don't see your account?" but selecting that brings up a screen which should list admin accounts but there aren't any. Pressing the only option on that page Restart leads eventually to a BSOD with Stop code: 0xc00002e3 (which I know is misconfigured o/s or missing or damaged system files).

Can anybody suggest next steps in resolving this?

Use Option Five again, but this time boot from a Windows 10 install usb or recovery drive. You only get asked to select an administrator account if you boot from the system's own Advanced Startup.
