Windows 10: Adobe Animate & Adobe After Effects

I am trying to download Animate and After Effects on my Surface Pro X, but it's not showing up on the creative cloud. Are the software not compatible, and if so, when will it become compatible?

Lottie is a client library that parses Adobe After Effects animations exported as json and renders them natively on the client. Alexandre maintains the UWP port of the library (LottieUWP), and stopped by to discuss why developers should use Lottie over other formats (such as gifs) and the benefits of a natively rendered and accelerated animations.

Welcome Adobe Animate CC, a new era for Flash Professional

For nearly two decades, Flash Professional has been the standard for producing rich animations on the web. Because of the emergence of HTML5 and demand for animations that leverage web standards, we completely rewrote the tool over the past few years to incorporate native HTML5 Canvas and WebGL support. To more accurately represent its position as the premier animation tool for the web and beyond, Flash Professional will be renamed Adobe Animate CC, starting with the next release in early 2016.

Today, over a third of all content created in Flash Professional today uses HTML5, reaching over one billion devices worldwide. It has also been recognized as an HTML5 ad solution that complies with the latest Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standards, and is widely used in the cartoon industry by powerhouse studios like Nickelodeon and Titmouse Inc.

Animate CC will continue supporting Flash (SWF) and AIR formats as first-class citizens. In addition, it can output animations to virtually any format (including SVG), through its extensible architecture.

There’s much more than just a name change however. Our team is hard at work on a major update with significant new features to create animations for any platform. Here’s a sneak peek by Michael Chaize, Principal Creative Cloud Evangelist:

Here’s what you can expect in Animate CC:

Drawing, illustration and authoring

Vector art brushes – Modify the path of a stroke after it’s been drawn, and scale them to any resolution without losing quality. You can also make custom brushes and import brushes created with Adobe Capture CC.

360° rotatable canvas – Rotate the canvas on any pivot point as you draw to get the perfect angle and strokes. You can even use this feature with a Wacom Cintiq!

Improved pencils and brushes – Draw smooth, precise vector outlines along a curve and get faster live previews.

Easier audio syncing – Control audio looping directly on the timeline, without having to code.

Faster color changing – Naming tagged colors lets you change one color and have it automatically update your entire project.

Colored onion skinning – Easily orchestrate complex animations now that adjacent frames can have different color and alpha values.

CreativeSync integration

Adobe Stock – Browse and license millions of high-quality photos, illustrations and vector graphics directly in Animate CC. You can even add life to static content by adding animations to them.

Creative Cloud Libraries – Access colors, vector graphics and brushes directly as you work.

Output capabilities

Multiplatform support: HTML5 Canvas, WebGL, Flash (SWF), AIR, video, and custom platforms (such as SVG) via extensions.

4K+ video export – Export videos with custom resolutions for the latest Ultra HD and Hi-DPI displays.

Custom resolution export – Revitalize older content by resizing and optimizing them for any resolution, such as Ultra HD and Hi-DPI displays.

.OAM support – Export your project as an .OAM file for easy importing to Adobe Muse, InDesign, DPS and Dreamweaver.

Note: When the release becomes available in January, it will be listed as “Adobe Animate CC” in the Creative Cloud desktop application. When you install or update Animate CC, it will be found on your computer as Adobe Animate CC 2015, not Adobe Flash CC 2015.

Previous versions of Flash Professional prior to January 2016 will continue to be available.

NVIDIA GPUs Power Latest Adobe Creative Cloud Enhancements

NVIDIA today announced its GPUs are powering the upcoming releases and new GPU-accelerated features of Adobe Creative Cloud video applications, such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC, SpeedGrade CC, Adobe Media Encoder (AME), and Adobe Anywhere. The upcoming releases were revealed by Adobe at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show.

NVIDIA's GPUs are a "must-have" tool for Adobe video professionals -- enabling the fastest performance across the widest range of Creative Cloud applications, whether working in HD or 4K, desktop or mobile, workstation or cloud. NVIDIA and Adobe have engaged in a long-standing effort to develop unmatched GPU-accelerated features designed for professional Video Editors, VFX artists and Colorists.

The latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC will add a significant speed and efficiency improvement to 4K workflows by enabling GPU debayering for real-time RED Camera media 4K playback on NVIDIA GPUs. Before this new GPU feature was added, Adobe Premiere Pro CC editors needed an additional dedicated RED ROCKET card. Fast GPU debayering is a boon for video editors, adding more choices for fluid video workflows while managing costs.

Additionally, the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC offers new GPU-accelerated Mercury Playback Engine features for real-time playback, including Master Clip Effects to enable all changes to be applied to sub-clips, as well as Feathered Masking for automatic image tracking. These new GPU-powered features add to the growing list of GPU optimizations within Adobe Premiere Pro CC and throughout Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Other key NVIDIA GPU-driven benefits for video editors using Adobe Creative Cloud include:

NVIDIA GPU Optimization for Mac

CUDA performance optimizations for NVIDIA-accelerated Macs provide up to 30% faster Adobe Premiere Pro CC performance vs. an out-of-the-box configuration.

Adobe Anywhere

Adobe Anywhere's remote streaming and Mercury Playback Engine benefit from GPU-acceleration and exclusive support for NVIDIA Tesla-based server solutions.

SpeedGrade CC

GPU acceleration throughout SpeedGrade CC, includes the Lumetri Deep Color Engine for seamless color grading workflows between SpeedGrade and Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

Adobe After Effects CC

Exclusive NVIDIA GPU-accelerated 3D ray tracing in Adobe After Effects CC provides ultra-fast interactive 3D motion graphics performance. 3D ray tracing is based on NVIDIA's OptiX application acceleration engine.

Adobe Media Encoder CC

Integrated GPU-accelerated Mercury Playback Engine speeds rendering tasks like scaling, pixel format conversions, and de-interlacing. It also speeds image processing output, such as watermarks and Lumetri "Looks."
