    Afraid to test Windows 10

I totally agree, I'm running Win10/Win8.1 as a dual boot on the same SSD and it was easy to set up and I've had no issues to date.

    YMMV as usual...
Jeff *Smile I've prepared a 60GB partition in my SSD to install W10JTP when it becomes available.
Hopefully later today I'll have it running on bare metal !

*Thumbs Good plan.. I have 50GB set aside on my SSD for Win10.. works just fine for me. *Wink

  3. Going to stick with a VM at the moment, to check it out

Depending on how Continuum & Spartan work, I might do a duel boot if I like the look of these

  4. Afraid to test Windows 10

I chose to test W-10 on it's own ssd. I really didn't want to test a VM. One would not know if the problems they might have is the VM or W-10. I just dual boot using a hot swap.

Because my hardware is fairly new and W-7 runs well on it I will know if their is a problem with W-10 it is W-10 or the programs installed on the W-10 ssd. Takes a lot of guessing out of trouble shooting.

When the tech that built my computer had both HDs plugged in.
Windows 10 probably modified the MBR to Gpt.
The computer now has the Windows 10 HD unplugged.
Now when I try to run Clonezilla-live it fails with these messages:
This disk contains mismatched GPT and MBR partition: /dev/sda
Since I am a Windows guy SUDO is wasted on me.
To fix the problem Steven Shiau of Clonezilla-live suggested I do the following:
Steven Shiau Since your /dev/sda has mismatched GPT and MBR partition, and you mention you are sure your disk is only using MBR, you should wipe the GPT table. It's a risk, though.
Backup important data before you continue the following steps. All the data on the disk my be gone if something goes wrong. Therefore be careful.
    1. Boot Clonezilla live
    2. Enter command line prompt
    3. sudo -i
    4. sgdisk -z /dev/sda
(Make sure /dev/sda is the disk containing mismatched GPT and MBR partition.)
    5. reboot.
    Good luck.
    Steven.

I hesitate to do this as I have no backup now.
Also the line: "Make sure /dev/sda is the disk containing mismatched GPT and MBR partition"
I have no idea how do to this.*Confused

If you don't feel comfortable doing testing I would not try it. But if you want an alternative then try a VM.. Lots of instructions in the forum.

This is what I think happened with the MBR/GPT problem I had.
Computer has 2 HDs. One with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and another
with Windows 10 64-bit. The tech connected both drives and we
fired up the computer. It had a hissie. To solve the problem
we disconnected the Windows 10 drive. Then Windows 7 started
to work. Took the computer home and worked for several days
building it. Then I decided it was time to backup the computer.
I use Clonezilla-live to do this. It spit out an error message
saying that /dev/sda had a mismatched GPT/MBR partition.
So my conclusion is that Windows 7 Pro uses the MBR and Windows
10 uses GPT. I have only one computer and am now afraid to run
Windows 10. The BIOS would be modified by Windows 10 and render
the BIOS unusable for the Clonezilla-live program again.
Windows 7 would work but not Clonezilla. So you say use another
backup program. The answer to this is NO. I haven't found
another backup program that handles a DISASTER failure. With
    Clonezilla-live this is no problem.
    Opinions would be appreciated.

I installed 9879 in real hardware and updated to 9926 really smoothly. The OS is quite stable, the overall look is well refined and some features were deeply improved. I approved it and I'm using it daily for general purposes without any kind of problem. It has minor bugs, but all can be fixed. Windows 10 reached "Preview Time" in a much better state than Windows 8 did years ago. I encourage everyone to try Windows 10, independently if you plan to do it on a VM or in real hardware.

Don't get me wrong Vladimir. I see nothing wrong with Window 10
for a Beta version. Nothing could be worse than Windows 8. I can not take
the chance of testing on Windows 10 until thefinal version is out. Have lost
a lot of time as you can see from the previous message.

My only other option that I see is ditching Windows 7 and just running Windows 10.
At this stage of development it might be OK. Would you take that chance?????

windows 8.1 is much better than win8 ,and win10 -9926 is in my opinion is as good as win8.1 ,the final release of win10 will be great also ,my opinion only ,iam not a picky user ,I just kind of go with the flow .you know
