Windows 10: After a Windows 10 reset mouse, keyboard not working, cannot login

Here we go again. Something simple like a PC reset goes **** and I cannot log in or use the mouse. Both are dead on Win 10 yet work fine with Linux on another hard drive on the same PC. My Dell does not have a PS2 input so I cannot try the PS2 fix. Everything was working albeit slowly prior to the reset and now a useless PC. This is so annoying. Download yet another ISO and start from scratch again? I have a backup but this will put back everything as it was when the PC was running slowly.

I would suggest you to follow the methods given below and check if it works:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

• 
  Press “Windows key + X”.
  
• 
  Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
  
• 
  Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
  

Follow the On Screen instructions.



Method 2: Un-install and re-install latest keyboard and mouse drivers from the computer manufacturer’s website and check.

Follow these steps:

• 
  Press “Windows Key + X” from the keyboard.
  
• 
  Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Right click on the keyboard and mouse drivers and select
  “Uninstall”.
  

Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

My desktop computer's mouse and keyboard stopped working after an update in February. I searched for a fix but all of the recommendations involve touching this or that key or using mouse to change things. How can I follow the steps when my mouse and keyboard
do not respond. Please help. My mouse and keyboard work fine until windows starts. I also tried a new mouse and keyboard and it is still blocked. the computer says it is installed when I plug it iin but the curser is not there.

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• As I can see Keyboard and Mouse works fine when in Advanced Options (Safe Mode from CMD), is that right?
• Did you try Online Keyboard?

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

Restart the computer a few times.

Remove all the external devices except Mouse and Keyboard.

On the right lower corner of the system, click on Ease of access to enable Online Keyboard and check.
