Windows 10: After KB4566782 update, windows 10 home license suddenly prompting expiring soon.

Hi there,

I was using windows 10 home fine all along when the mentioned update installed on 16 August, all of sudden after updating, my windows prompts me my license is expiring soon on September.




I remembered that I activated the windows license with my MS account, but now windows states my license is activated through an organisation.

There was nothing I could do and I tried reinstalling windows a few times but the activation was not successful thereafter. It just keep saying my license is activated through an organisation. I do not have an option to activate through phone too. I also tried to retrieve my product key but windows keeps saying there was no product key available.


I have a cloned image of my windows when it was initially activated but when I restore the image, the efi partition is missing hence windows could not boot up. I do not know how to resolve from here.


Any help will be appreciated.

What does the activation screen under Settings - Updates & Security show? Also, in a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) run:

slmgr /dlv

and post the results.

I have recently factory restored my hp envy windows 10. Now i have this message "WINDOWS LICENSE WILL EXPIRE SOON". Im not sure if this is important but i have sent in my hp envy for warranty repairs on the hard disk drive. I bought my hp with windows 10 home edition, but when I sent it in for repairs it came back with windows 10 pro. Any suggestions
