After uninstalling software, there are keys in the "Security Center" of the registry...

I can not delete these keys. I can not change the permissions for these keys. Other keys I can delete. When I choose to uninstall software, I should be allowed to delete ALL keys if I choose. Does anyone know how to delete such keys? This is just another example of Microsoft's arrogance... they know what the world needs and they are going to give it to us whether we like it or not. You need to listen to your customers!

windows defender & security center services keep turning off

Are you running any other AV or did you have one running in the past? If you didn't use an uninstaller for the AV, then the remnants of it could be causing the problem. Normally any time you install an AV it disables Defender by default.

If you are getting any error codes please list those, that will be helpful in helping you.

As torre suggested, might be a good idea to do a reset or even a reinstall.

    Deleting an uninstalled software

    Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

First, I would suggest you to contact Python if they have any uninstaller, if yes, run the uninstaller package to get all the remnants of python removed completely from your computer.

If that does not help you may edit the registry and remove all the values for python. Follow the steps below to do so:

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added
protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge
    Base:

      Export on the File menu.
    • In the Export Registry File dialog box that appears, click

    • Each key listed under Uninstall in the left pane of Registry Editor represents a program that is displayed in the
Currently installed programs list of the Add or Remove Programs tool. To determine which program that each key represents, click the key, and then view the following values in the details pane on the right:
DisplayName: The value data for the DisplayName key is the name that is listed in Add or Remove Programs.

      -and-

UninstallString: The value data for the UninstallString key is the program that is used to uninstall the program.
    • After you identify the registry key that represents the program that you removed but which is still displayed in the
Currently installed programs list of Add or Remove Programs, right-click the key in the left pane of the
Registry Editor window, and then click Delete.

Click Yes in response to the "Are you sure you want to delete this key and all of its subkeys?" message.
    • On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
    • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click
      Add or Remove Programs
      .

In the Currently installed programs list, verify that the program whose registry key you deleted is no longer listed.
