Windows 10: After Update, i'm getting choose a keyboard layout and then advanced repair

So this is the second pc I've ran into with this issue. So after a recent update, i'm getting choose keyboard layout and when i choose US it takes me to advanced repair. I can choose use a different operating system but there's a windows rollback option, windows 10 volume 4, and windows 10 volume 4. On others that ive ran into, ive been able to boot to one of the volumes and then delete via msconfig, but these I've tried everything i could think of and everything i've found, chkdisc, dism, bootrec, tried a system roll back. None of the volumes will boot. I've booted to Hirens and can see the d

Wrong keyboard layout in login page after update to 1607

Hi,

Since the issue reoccurred after updating to anniversary update, I suggest you to reconfigure the QWERTY keyboard layout and check if the same issue persists. This is to check if the issue is with Windows 10 1607 update.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to configure the keyboard layout:

• Open Settings and click on Time and Language.
• Click on Region and Language.
• Add the Country and click on add a language and select the language of your choice.
• This will take time to download the pack.
• Once this is done, Press Windows key + Space and press Space key to choose the keyboard layout.

This suggests to me that you are using the wrong "keyboard language" for your keyboard, and that therefore you first step would be to determine exactly what language keyboard you have. Possibly have a look at Windows Keyboard Layouts - Globalization | Microsoft Docs.

(The age of any laptop capable of running Windows 10 at all should not be a problem as regards keyboard layout)

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

• Are you not able to select the keyboard layout from the window?
• 
  Do you get any error message/error code after selecting the keyboard layout?
  

I suggest you to remove all the external devices connected to your system, except Keyboard and mouse and check if it helps.

If not, you can create a system repair disk and perform the repair option on the operating system to correct the issue you are facing with. You can use system repair disk to restore the PC with missing files.

I suggest you to perform Automatic repair
by downloading Windows 10 ISO image from the
Media Creation Tool and check if the issue is resolved.


Automatic Repair tool automates common diagnostic and repair tasks for startup issues like non-bootable operating system installations. Automatic repair starts the PC in
the normal manner if the booting fails. Automatic repair can be done from the Windows Recovery Environment (WRE) window of the PC.

  When your computer starts, wait for the manufacturer logo to check the option for boot menu, it will usually be
  F12. The boot menu key might differ with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the boot menu key, you may refer the user manual.

  Boot menu option key to enter the boot menu and change the boot option to

  After you boot your computer using Windows 10 DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text
