  1. After upgrading to Windows 10 version 1511

Right now I'm suffering issues on Windows 10 after upgrading to version 1511

    The issues include:
Performance issues - my laptop is suffering lag and hangs randomly (this had never happened before version 1511)
Longer boot - It would take 30 seconds or longer to boot, instead of before that's taking just 3 seconds. (I noticed that after the laptop booted, it is booting again, acting like a bootloop
Slow app opening - Opening Google Chrome would take 6-7 seconds than it would open instantly before
Waking up from sleep - After opening my laptop, it would be on black screen for few seconds, than before it would never be on black screen
Shutting down - It takes 15 seconds or longer to shut down, assuming it's not actually a problem at all, but it is a problem... It wouldn't take 15 seconds as, before it would take 2-5 seconds.

Please help! I'm having problems since I upgraded to version 1511

    :)

First of all, you replied to your own post, which took you out of the unanswered queue. Next time, please edit your post and do not bump it.

Secondly, it's not uncommon for people to wait a lot longer than 4 hours for a first response. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers here, and also have a life outside these forums.

Now please answer some questions for me:Was this system upgraded? If so, from W7 or W8?

What steps have you taken so far? (besides a reset)

Have you tried turning off Fast Startup?

Have you removed all HP Bloatware, especially the stuff leftover from before the upgrade?

    What AV are you using?

  7. Thanks for replying, I didn't know the forums would work like that.
    Answers:
The system was pre-installed with Windows 10, then I upgraded to Threshold 2 or November Update which caused the error

I tried restoring from a backup, I used HP Recovery Manager

Yes, I tried turning it off and on (from Google search, but still can't find any fix there)

The HP Bloatware you were calling, was all HP Support (which isn't helpful), HP Recovery Manager, Dropbox, HP Recovery Media, and McAfee. I have uninstalled McAfee since it was only a trial for 7 days which expired, but haven't uninstalled others which I would wait for recommendation if I need to

I did, use McAfee previously, but I am now using Windows Defender which is the main AV since I can't find a decent one... Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your kind consideration!

Oh, and I seen VirTool:Win32/Obfuscator.XZ, four of them, detected by Windows Defender. Then, one hour later, it found Trojan:Win32/Fethar.B!cl, please help!

Okay, thanks for that update. Now I have some ideas for you:

    Turn off Fast Startup.

    Download and run RKILL.
Post the log here in a code box (use the # button to do that).
RKILL stops malicious processes from running on your system, so you can take control to clean it out. Everything that RKILL does is undone by a reboot, so please remember that. If at any time running any of the other scans I suggest, you need to reboot, please run RKILL again before continuing, okay?

Download and run Malwarebytes AntiMalware Free. Be sure to UNTICK the box for the free trial when the installation completes. Do a custom scan, select the box for ROOTKITS, and select to scan all drives connected to the system.
Post the log here when it's completed.

Download and run ADWCleaner. Run the scan and then click CLEAN. Post the log here for this one as well.

Download and run SuperAntiSpyware Free. Update the definitions. After scanning and cleaning, post the log here.

Download and open Ccleaner Free. Do not run a cleaning function at this time. Go to your installed programs, let the list populate, then select the button to save to text file. Post that file here.

Hey phoenix, first off if you found some crap with defender, I would recommend download and run Malwarebytes Free and see what that finds. Anti-Malware for your home and for your business

Uninstall HP support assistant , HP framework, HP setup(this one is important), HP quick launch (if you don't use/have it) and HP on screen display from the programs setup'
These HP programs are unnecessary and without a doubt cause problems . When you need to install drivers you can go to all the individual vendors and download them manually. Or let MSFT get them for you This is good practice anyway.

After uninstalling all the HP crap, my system runs like a top.

Next, run an sfc/scannow thru the command prompt as administrator and see if you have any corrupt files. All of these things can be found here on the forums

Consider doing an in place upgrade/repair install, and choose to keep all your settings and files.

The most important thing though IMO is to get rid of all the HP crap

    Regarding Trojan:Win32/Fethar.B!cl
Do you play Live for Speed? (if so, this could be a FP)

    Regarding VirTool:Win32/Obfuscator.XZ
Are you using crack programs? (i.e. Skidrow crack to bypass SecuROM)

If so, I will ask you right now, to please get everything illegal off your system. Further help will be withheld until you comply.

The most important thing to do first, is get rid of infections and any illegal stuff. *Smile
If his system came with W10 pre-installed, that HP Bloatware can be a problem, but is not as much a problem, as it is when a system is upgraded.

Sorry for not answering, but here's everything to keep you updated:
I'm about to apply the steps you given above on installing Rkill and everything else
AnEdge, I'll try your method after, thanks!

I don't know what's Live for Speed, but I do use one crack program which is Starbound, but I removed it anyways so it's no longer a problem, I think... And, thanks!

I'll reply if anything happens. Oh, and I installed AVG Free, so it would prevent spreading of infections in the future. (maybe)

Thanks for removing the cracked program.
I would like to have you use Defender for now, while we work on your system, and not AVG.
RKILL Looks good except for one reparse point; not sure why you have that there, are you aware of doing that on purpose?
