  1. AGPTEK MP3 Player not recognized by my computer at all! Please help!

Hello, when I plug in my AGPTEK MP3 player to my Windows laptop, not a single blip, notice, sound, nothing happens at all except the MP3 player starts charging off the laptop. When I bought it around February 2020, it worked just fine, was recognized by my computer, and I could transfer data easily back and forth as I wanted. But at some point after a few months, I believe right after finally updating windows around the middle of May not sure what I was using before, I believe an earlier windows 10 version, my device stopped being recognizable by anything besides my computers battery for charging. The MP3 player no longer asks "charge or charge and transfer?" it just immediately begins charging with no user input of any kind.

I just want to get my files from the MP3 to my computer, because I have very special group music recordings on there since the device is also a recorder.

    Please help!

    :)

Hi Bryce. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

    1) See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool
    explained here:
    https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta...

    2) See fixes for AGPTEK MP3 not being recognized:

    http://www.agptek.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=110...

    https://ccm.net/faq/3811-my-pc-does-not-recogni...

    https://www.lifewire.com/solving-usb-connection...

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    3) Go into Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button, try to find the MP3 player, open and choose Driver tab, then Update Driver, then Automatic. If that doesn't work then try Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick and try all previous drivers.
If that doesn't work then choose Uninstall driver, restart PC to reinstall.

    4) I'll give you everything possible to try for USB dysfunction which we see a lot here:

Try all other USB ports to compare.

Update your Chipset and USB drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page for your full model number, HP Serial Number, or Dell Service tag from the sticker on PC.

Compare the latest drivers with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and
    install the latest now.

If no newer or this doesn't help, then go to the USB category in Device Manager, open each Enhanced, Hub and Host controller, from Driver tab select Roll back if available, or if not choose Uninstall.

If your keyboard and mouse are USB, first program the power button to effect the needed restart after Rolling back or uninstalling the driver. Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what Power buttons do to choose Shutdown.

For external hard drives go into Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button, find drive under Disk Drives, right click to Uninstall, restart PC to reinstall.

If that doesn't help then plug the external into another PC to see if it is detected, if so copy the files out to a folder on Desktop, return it to problem PC to Delete in Disk Mgmt and reformat as shown here:

    http://www.wikihow.com/Format-an-External-Hard-...

Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue
with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool and then choosing to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest
    version.
