    Any help greatly appreciated. I am currently running 1709 on my Alienware 15r3. I want to upgrade to 1803/1809 but whenever I update to either of them I receive this message when logging in, then I have no access to the internet.

    I have an Alienware R17.

    After trying to update to 1803, I received an error and that update was not successful.

    I later became aware that build 1803 is not yet compatible with Alienware R17.

    In fact, Microsoft have blocked some Alienware units from receiving the update to 1803.

    That being said, every time I shut down my laptop I get the message to "update and shutdown"

    Nothing seems to update when it shuts down.

    I have tried using the Microsoft troubleshooter tools etc, that tells me errors were found and were fixed. However, I still get the update message when shutting down.

    When I go to settings and then update, there is nil info as to what version I have, just animated dots like it's searching for an update, it can do that for hours.

    Any suggestions on how to stop win 10 from trying to update and get rid of the update message when shutting down please?

    I have also tried a program on Major Geeks to stop windows from updating, still does it though! *Mad

A new BIOS update, version X29b P3A30 is now available. The update allegedly allows VGA fans to increase up to 5400 rpm and thus better cool the GPU. Once you download the small file, Alienware recommends to follow the steps described in the Read full story marker.



    Open Nero Ultra Edition, click Backup, and then click “Burn Image to Disc.” Next, select the file “m15x_x29b.iso from the unzipped folder.

    • Plug your AC adapter in
    • Disconnect all third-party peripherals
    • Don’t turn off the computer or restart it during the update
    • Don’t eject your DVD/Blu-ray drive during the update.
    Steps:
    • Open BIOS by tapping F12 during boot
    • Set BIOS to boot from your CD-ROM drive first
    • Save and exit
    • Upon reboot, the BIOS flash update will proceed
    • Click “Yes” through the prompts
    • Restart

    I believe you are having difficulties updating, but I'm not aware of any Alienware systems being blocked. I have a DT Alienware Aurora R6, i7-7700K. The R17 has an i7-7700HQ. I'm running 1803 fine. Updated fine. Could you supply links or data showing where you were told or saw that you were blocked?

    *note*Info Dell has had several (4), BIOS updates since December, 2017 dealing with Spectre and Meltdown. You may want to check the Dell Support site for the R17 to make sure you are up to date. MS may block if not up to date.
