Windows 10: AllApps menu alternative

    Dave try placing a copy of the shortcut here(change to your user name of course)

    C:\Users\Clifford\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

    I did try that at first. Also tried a couple of alternative methods with no success.

    I am more interested, now, in why, unlike other readers, (?) I do not have the option to pin to taskbar.

    That is weird, even Win8 has that. One more thing to try, open up Bill's All Apps screen and see if you have the option on one of those shortcuts...
    Does it make a difference if one uses an Admin account or Standard, I wouldn't think so but that's how I troubleshoot.

    No misunderstanding. I have that option in all my other programs, be it 8 or 10, but not for this particular shortcut. When I read in your post that you had used it, I started down this track

    I've just been playing around with it and changed the name of one of it's shortcuts(got rid of the tilde) until I renamed ALL it's shortcuts, I temporarily lost the Pin to Taskbar option. I believe it was in the Start menu folder where it happened.

    OK. I deleted everything applicable, and started over. This time I was able to pin it. No idea why it failed the first time.

    While you can't apply view settings to the 'Applications' folder itself...:

    ... I've just created a new folder with the desired shortcuts from there and created a shortcut of that to pin to the taskbar.

    Edwin, Would it update itself upon installation of new programs & uninstallation of old like Bills? But then again I only need it for system things, for 3rd party programs, I create a desktop icon and then stick it in a corresponding folder(Tools, Browsers, etc.) on the desktop toolbar. So I guess that's an option too.

    Yeah, you would have to create the shortcuts and place them manually, in my example.

    The first time would take a while. Tomorrow we have a German Holiday(Ascension Day) so I'm off, it would give me something "constructive" to do with my morning coffee*Smile.

    There was and still is a program called 7Stacks and it basically did this in Windows 7. It however will not work as designed in Windows 10.
