Windows 10: Alt-F4 to close Windows? --> Switch User

Discus and support Alt-F4 to close Windows? --> Switch User in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; I was used to turn off my computer by pressing Alt-F4 a few times.     Alt-F4 to close Windows? --> Switch User


    I was used to turn off my computer by pressing Alt-F4 a few times. It would end with a window opening that had as default 'Shut down'. Not any more. Now I get 'Switch user' as default. And choosing 'Shut down' will not give me that wanted and expected choice the next time. I even used the regular way to shut down my computer, by clicking Start (followed by Power and Shut down) hoping it would revert back. How can I get my 'Shut down' back when I press Alt-F4?

    • Were you able to try “Alt key + F4”?

    • Is the Switch User button active?

    Suggest you to close all open windows and restart the computer once to check if that helps.

    Alt F4 does not close a window

    I just unpacked my brand new Microsoft surface pro today and find that I cannot close a window using alt F4. I find this very irritating... Brand new ms machine and the kbd driver doesn't work properly???
