Windows 10: Always show icons, never thumbnails only apply to folders

How to "always show icons, never thumbnails" only apply to folders, but not filesAdvanced settings only have a option which both apply to files and folders, if i select that, my pictures will only have icons but not thumbnail which i don't want that.I tried to figure it out myself, but a specialist probably is needed to solve my problem.Appreciate and thank you if u can solve my problem.

There's a possibility that some folder settings may have changed. It could be set to show icons and not thumbnails. To verify that, please follow the steps below:

• Open the File Explorer.
• Click the View tab.
• On the upper-right corner, click Options.
• On the Folder Options, click the View tab.
• Under Files and Folders, uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails.
• Click Apply, then OK.

Once done, try checking if the folder icons are already showing thumbnails.

Thanks for the feedback. In that case, let's look into the appearance and performance settings of your computer. Please follow the steps below:

• In the Cortana search bar, type in Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows, then click it in the search results to open the
  Performance Options window.
  
• In the Virtual Effects tab, ensure that the Show thumbnails instead of icons option is checked.
• Click Apply, then OK.

If the folders still show the device icon, then please go back to the
Performance Options window, tick Adjust for best appearance option, then click
Apply > OK. Check if the folders are showing thumbnails. If it's still the same, then go back to the
Performance Options window and tick Let Windows choose what's best for my computer.

Folder Photos: Showing Thumbnail Photos Rather Than IrfanView Icons ?

Open File Explorer > top right, click Options > click Change folder and search options > click View at top > UN-check the box " Always show icons, never thumbnails" > OK when done.
