Windows 10: AMD error 173

so all of sudden my graphic hardware adapter from the device manager disappered i tried DDU formatted and reinstalled windows tried diff windows cleaned and fixed registries updated refreshed and scaned for hardware changes but nope.... as the windows gives us MICROSOFT BASIC DISPLAY ADAPTERS FOR ALL THE GRAPHIC DEVICES PRESENT IN THE SYSTEM...I GOT ONLY ONE AFTER THIS EARLIER I USED TO GET 2 ,1 ) FOR INTEL 2) FOR AMD R9 265X/HD 8850M GDDR5 2GB
SPEC: LAPPY I7 4TH GEN 8GB RAM ON WIN10PRO 64BIT ARCH 2.8GHZ WITH DUAL CORE DELL INSPIRON 15R 5537

P.S PLEASE DONT SAY TOREINSTALL FROM DEV AND STUFF.. NOPE I TRIED EVERYTHING IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY AND ASPECT SO ANY HARDWARE TIPS OR ATLEAST SIGN THAT MY GPU IS STILL ALIVE AND CAN BE FIXED??

This could be due to a corrupted system file upon the update. To isolate the issue, please provide the following information:

• Which build version currently runs on your device?
• Aside from the AMD Northbridge error message, are you receiving other error codes?

Possible Cause

The AMD Radeon Software Package contains generic drivers that supports a wide range of AMD graphics products. A possible reason why the AMD Installer had failed to identify your graphics hardware and cannot continue installation is because it belongs in
one of these unsupported product groups:

• • AMD Embedded graphics
  • Legacy AMD graphics
  • Customized AMD graphics for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system

Solution

If you know the model of your AMD graphics hardware, you may use the
AMD Driver Selector to locate and download the appropriate driver. However, if you do not know the model of your AMD graphics hardware, please refer KB article:

For customized AMD graphics, we recommend obtaining the latest driver from the OEM System Builder or Partner Manufacturer. For a list of OEMs and Partner Manufacturers, please see

If you are still unable to resolve Error 182 after completing the steps outlined above and need further assistance, please contact AMD Customer Care and attach the AMD Installer log file to your service request. The AMD Installer log file is located in
C:\Program Files\AMD\CIM\Log\Installer.log​

You need to put in your make and model of your PC and see if it has system drivers for Windows 10 OS. If so download and install all of them. But first go into device manager and uninstall the Graphics card drivers and then install what you downloaded and
restart PC.

If it does not have your drivers for Windows 10, then still do the uninstall graphics card, restart PC and then let it install the drivers again and see if this fixes the issue.

Can you provide me with your Brand and model of your PC or laptop.

Also, Go into programs and features and see if there are any AMD graphics software such as CCC Catalyst Control Center and uninstall it.

 

SSD samsung evo and amd drivers

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

The issue could be because of the AMD drivers installed on the computer.

Since the Samsung SSD is working fine with the Microsoft AHCI driver, I suggest you to update the AMD driver and check if that helps. To update the AMD drivers follow the steps from the article

Update drivers in Windows 10.

If updating the drivers didn’t help, I suggest you to roll back the driver to previous build and check if that helps. To roll back the driver to previous build follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. In Device manager, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
   
4. Right click on AMD SATA Controller and select
   Properties.
   
5. Navigate to the Driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver.
   
6. Restart the computer.
