Windows 10: AMD R9 390X Display Issues with Ultrawide Monitor

Hi everyone,

Just bought the Lenovo Legion Legion Y44w-10 + Ultrawide Monitor, and hooked it up to my PC.

Windows for some reason think my recommended display setting is 3840 x 2160 (recommended).

But the resolution should be 3840 x 1200. When I select that resolution, the monitor gives me a display with letterboxes up and down and the screen looks tiny and stretched.

If I install the latest GPU nothing changes, the issue persists. When I delete the GPU driver, then restart, I then get the normal full screen 3840 x 1200.

How can I fix this, as whenever I update to the latest AMD driver the resolution goes crazy again and adds letterboxes in 3840 x 1200.

Any advice, help would be massively appreciated.

Surface Laptop 2 cant display properly on LG Ultrawide 34 inch monitor.

I recently bought a LG Ultrawide 21:9 34 inch monitor and I tried connecting my Surface Laptop 2 to the monitor. Connecting to the monitor it self isnt a problem; however, I cannot select a 2560x1080 resolution for the surface laptop 2 which is the resolution
needed to properly display on the monitor without being stretched. Has anyone had similar problems and have been able to set up their Surface Laptop to the LG Ultrawide?

 

No display on monitor when TV set as primary display

Issue solved

Removed DVI/HDMI cable from computer and monitor

Step 1: Check if the VGA monitor cable is defective.

1. Turn off computer
   
2. Connect the monitor VGA cable from the monitor to the VGA port on the computer
   
3. Turn on computer, VGA monitor cable is good.
   
   Step 2: Tun off computer
   

1. Connect HDMI Cable to HDMI port and TV
   
2. Turn on computer and TV, there is no monitor black screen
   
3. Click on the Windows logo, select the Settings icon , and then select
   
   System. Under Display there are two squares, labeled 1 and 2
   
   D Click on Advanced Display Settings:
   
   Display information: Display 1- Monitor Display 2 -TV
   
   E Right-click the Speakers icon in
   the taskbar, select Sound, click on Playback devices,

   AMD High Definition Audio Device ready.
   
   F. Problem solved
