Windows 10: An app default was reset

    An app default was reset


    A few days ago this message appeared in my notification.

    An app default was reset.

    An app caused a problem with the default app setting for .raw so it was reset to Photos

    Now start up and sign in are sometime slow/sluggish and sometimes before sign in i get a momentary blue screen or white screen

    i have run sfc /scannow and checkdisc no problem found

    what has this done to my system if any thing

    i have windows 10 version 2004

    Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

    Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

    I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

    Might be helpful to list what i've done An app default was reset :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

    I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

    Default programs repeatedly reset to "MS" programs/apps

    I had the same problem.
    Possible causes:
    1. Acrobat preference does not work and if you click on it, it will reset to Windows default acrobat reader with the message:

      An app default was reset [​IMG]
    2. If Windows has update for Acrobat reader App, it will reset it to default.

    Just set it from Control Panel->Default Programs->Set Your default programs
    High lite Acrobat then click on: Set this program as default.

    How to reset Windows 10 settings to default?

    Hi,

    As per your concern, some settings on Windows 10 have default options. You can reset Windows 10 to its defaults app by following this steps.

    • Go to Settings.
    • Choose System.
    • On the left side, select Default app.

    • Under Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults, click Reset.
