  1. An odd issue

On a friends computer application files are getting the .exe file extension stripped off the name. Of course then they won't launch. Renaming the file and adding the .exe back onto the filename solves the issue temporarily but it happens again. What's even weirder is I can completely uninstall the app, manually get rid of any remnants of it including any leftover registry keys and when I reinstall it, it will install without the file extension on the executable. The affected files aren't showing up in quarantine. I thought perhaps the the anti virus software he is running Avast might be doing something, but I temporarily shut it down and reinstalled the software with the same result. Happens randomly to multiple apps. I've run multiple different virus scans and they all come back clean, tried it in safe mode and the same thing happens. Any ideas of what to look for? I've run sfc and it didn't find any errors, but I haven't yet run dism

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
