Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10586 for PC

Yes there is. An upgrade on a qualified system does not even ask the key, a clean install lets you to skip it in which case Windows will be automatically activated if the machine had already had an activated Windows 10.

 

An hour late to the party, so I'm just now downloading. MS dropped it around our lunchtime.

Yup, I thought that would be the case.

 

Took about an hour to download and 20 minutes to install. No problems.

It then installed an Insider Hub Update.

There is no watermark on the Desktop and WINVER does not give an expiry date.

 

That's about what happened with Build 10240, isn't it? Not sure I'm remembering correctly.

 

I upgraded and Office 365 didn't ask for re-activation.

 

If you want system restore on, don't forget to reset it.

 

Yes, that's what happened with 10240, which became the Consumer release. That add credence to this, Microsoft has signed off build 10586 as the 'Fall Update' If it is going to be the next Consumer (non insider) build.

 

Well, I'm upgraded on my tablet. Had to reboot to get my wifi adapter working. Other than that, though, everything went smooth.

Edit: Office 2016 remained activated for me after upgrading.

 

For you geeks needing an ISO for a clean install, this quote from the ESD to ISO tutorial thread:

Note The encryption key used in the tool in this tutorial works without issues with the ESD files of the new build released earlier today (see the Tweet above).

In other words, the tool itself and thew method told in this tutorial both work this build 10586, letting you to create the ISO image by yourself.

 

Installed, no problems.
